I’ve been warning about the spike in diesel prices, followed by shortages of supply, for several weeks now. Especially if Trump goes along with an export ban. A third of the diesel we import is from America, which is the world’s biggest diesel exporter (1.5m b/d). There are no alternative sources of supply. A US export ban would throw us into recession by Christmas. The economy, from farm machinery to road haulage, is powered by diesel.

Read this article, I have gifted it to ensure that everyone can read it. This is a terrible, terrible situation and it would seem there is some dreadfully deceitful and despicable behaviour being carried out by Sir Ranulph’s wife. Her own family members, unrelated to him, are reporting deep concern over this as well as his own family and friends. This is clearly something which needs to be investigated and her Power of Attorney be removed and handed over to someone responsible (if not returned to him if he is able) even someone independent because this story is so upsetting and it is almost certain that Sir Ranulph’s vulnerabilities and age are being dangerously exploited. That worst worry is that we know about this because Sir Ranulph is a national treasure, a man who has achieved so much in his life and a man who deserves to live his life with dignity and with the company of those he loves. How many people who don’t have the ability to gain attention for a situation such as this are also suffering at the hands of controlling, manipulative family members though? And imagine how possible it might have been for people like his wife to use assisted dying without his consent had it been passed without those essential safeguards. As per my opposition portfolio I have my monthly meeting tomorrow morning with our Director of Adult Services, Housing and Homelessness so I will be sending this article to him and will be asking if there is any risk of situations like this happening to people under our care. My suspicion is that this lady has been able to get away with this for so long because she has access to the money to to pay to circumvent the kinds of tight safeguarding controls which our social care service operates under.
