// Friendly reminder: My Kogitsunemaru is not a lewd account.
Kogitsunemaru has a very specific type, and I want to make that distinction clear because his personality can sometimes give people the wrong impression.
He's a vain, theatrical, mischievous character. He enjoys teasing people, making extravagant remarks, getting under someone's skin, and occasionally being deliberately flirtatious for his own amusement. He appreciates beauty and has absolutely no problem telling someone that he finds them beautiful. He can be charming, provocative, playful, and even a little shameless with his compliments.
None of those things automatically mean he's romantically or sexually interested in someone.
Kogi's attraction is exceptionally specific. He's primarily attracted to women with animalistic characteristics similar to his own, particularly foxes and women with beastly traits. Even then, simply possessing fox ears, tails, or other animal characteristics isn't enough. Personality matters just as much. He has to find the woman herself interesting and consider her someone he'd genuinely want to pursue.
Characters like Tamamo-no-Mae, Akagi, and Xayah are examples of the sort of women who can catch his attention. It's a combination of their characteristics, personalities, and the particular qualities he finds appealing. His preferences aren't interchangeable with a general attraction to pretty women.
As for how he interprets flirting from women, this is where his vanity becomes particularly relevant. Kogi can recognize when someone is flirting with him, when a woman is blushing, or when she's displaying fairly obvious signs of interest. His immediate interpretation, however, is often something along the lines of 'Excellent taste! Naturally, she's mesmerized. Who could possibly blame her?!'
He takes it as a wonderful affirmation of his own magnificence. He's amused, flattered, and more than happy to play along, but that doesn't mean he's interpreting her behavior as an indication that he should pursue her romantically or sexually.
He can reciprocate the flirting, exchange suggestive remarks, and thoroughly enjoy the banter without attaching any further expectations to it. Sometimes he's simply enjoying himself. Sometimes he's teasing someone because he finds their reactions entertaining. Sometimes he genuinely appreciates someone's appearance and says so. That's all there is to it.
I specifically gave Kogitsunemaru these limitations because I want to write funny, chaotic, entertaining, and occasionally mature roleplays that can remain entirely platonic. I want him to be able to interact with all sorts of characters, exchange ridiculous banter, be an absolute nuisance, and develop meaningful friendships without every interaction being interpreted as romantic pursuit or an attempt to initiate lewd roleplay.
Likewise, I don't want anyone feeling that they have to worry about their character flirting with him, joking suggestively, or engaging in playful banter because they think I'm going to interpret it as permission to take the interaction somewhere sexual. Flirting with Kogi is not an automatic invitation to lewd RP, and writing a flirtatious interaction does not mean I'm seeking one.
The same applies to following my account. Following someone doesn't mean Kogi is interested in their character, and it certainly doesn't mean I'm approaching them with romantic or sexual intentions.
I want to be able to write Kogitsunemaru as the flamboyant, self-satisfied, mischievous menace he is without having his entire personality reduced to chasing women or trying to get into someone's pants.
He's perfectly capable of appreciating a beautiful woman, teasing her, complimenting her, and having an entertaining dynamic with her without wanting to sleep with her.
Platonic chemistry is still chemistry. Funny interactions are still worth writing. And not every character interaction needs to become romantic or sexual to be enjoyable.
His ears twitched high, tail snapping straight into a buoyant, rigid fan behind him.
“An offering?! Now you speak the language of absolute wisdom!”
He crossed his arms over his chest with an authoritative nod, the sudden shift to eager warmth completely erasing every trace of his previous disdain.
“See how quickly proper reverence clarifies the mind? Presenting tribute to a divine guardian is a sacred tradition of the highest honor! Deliver the feast at once, and I shall bestow upon you my official, highly coveted stamp of approval!”
A lazy hum vibrated through his chest as he rolled his head back against his arm, his heavy eyelids fluttering open just enough to reveal a sliver of dull crimson while his tail gave a single, annoyed thump against the floorboard.
“If you came to deliver sunrise greetings, your timing is appalling. A true professional waits for the coffee to brew before starting the commentary.”
“You state that as if it were a casual revelation! The refined palate of an Inari deity is not some mundane quirk to be glossed over—it is the gold standard of divine taste! If a creature of the woods cannot appreciate the flawless art of golden, fried perfection, that is entirely a failure of Elven culture!”
“Mortal decrees are far too small to shackle an ambition of grand spectacle! When a truly magnificent sight beckons, mere rules become nothing more than background noise to be trampled beneath your boots!
If your heart demands a prize, march straight into the breach and claim it—any petty authorities attempting to bar your path can be dealt with at the edge of a blade!”
“I am no mere woodland pest scurrying through the brush! I am an exquisite spirit of the divine blade, forged by human mastery and blessed by sacred grace! As for the tofu—when a dish reaches such absolute perfection, taking pride in its consumption is the only respectable response! A palate as ancient as yours ought to appreciate true excellence, yet here you stand, questioning my divine duties!”
“'Just eating food'?! Such tragic, uncultured blasphemy from a creature that has walked the earth for centuries!”
Sweeping his wide sleeve outward in a dramatic flourish, he held the half-eaten golden square aloft like a precious relic.
“This is not mere sustenance, Elf! This is fried tofu—a sacred art form, an offering fit for the heavens, and an delicate balance of crisp exterior and rich, savory perfection! To dismiss a divine inspection of such high magnitude as simple gluttony proves your ears are far too long and your palate far too unrefined to grasp true culinary grace!”
“Oho? The notorious Oni of Mount Ōe, brought completely to her knees by a mere whisper of fermented rice? How terribly tragic! To think a legendary calamity's ultimate undoing isn't a holy blade, but a simple, porcelain jug!”
Uncorking a dark, lacquered tokkuri, he brought it up into the light with a theatrical tilt of his wrist.
“Observe! Pulled directly from my personal divine stash—brewed in the Year of Tenshō 7, preserved by sacred grace since 1579, and kept exclusively for occasions of true nobility. The aroma alone is practically a gift to the senses!”
He poured a small, shimmering stream into a shallow porcelain choko, letting the fragrance fill the air before swirling the liquid slowly. Taking a delicate, deliberate sip, he leaned back with a deep, dramatic sigh of pure satisfaction, his fanged grin widening.
“Magnificent! Smooth, velvety perfection that money in this modern era couldn't hope to buy. But since it acts as your tragic weakness, I suppose I shall simply have to sacrifice myself and drink the entire bottle on your behalf!”
“Oho! An admirer! And here I was beginning to suspect the entire neighborhood had gone blind! An hour spent grooming this magnificent mane, and not a soul had the decency to appreciate it. A tragedy, I tell you!”
He gave an approving nod, thoroughly pleased with himself.
“Now then! Who might you be, my sharp-eyed little visitor?”
“Solitude is a tragic waste of space! Since your hours lack proper decoration, consider your peace gloriously upgraded by a presence built entirely for an audience—rejoice in having your quiet shattered by absolute perfection!”
“A master practitioner of my caliber recognizes a scheming mind at work, Master. If that fond little grin means you have finally acknowledged the sheer, peerless perfection of the Saber you summoned, speak up—or must I assume you are simply overwhelmed by my presence?”
