When your car is paid off, WesBank sends your NaTIS document on request rather than automatically, to prevent fraud. This safeguard can make it easy to forget you don't have the document until you need it, like when someone wants to buy your car.
You can request it by logging into your account on our website, via the FNB app or phoning the call centre.
When your NaTIS arrives, you’ll also receive the instructions and documents you need for registering the car in your name. (For your convenience, we offer this as a paid service you can opt in for.)
Checking the cubbyhole for a service book is one of those reassuring moments when you're viewing a used car with the intention to buy. When it's not there, reassurance can move over to feelings of doubt.
These days plenty of cars never get a physical book at all, even when they're new, because services are logged digitally instead.
You can ask the seller to request the record from a dealer for that brand using the VIN. It wil show you services done inside the franchise network, so for anything done elsewhere, ask for those invoices as proof.
Audi's new Q5 just stopped being a preview.
Two years after its global reveal, Audi's third-generation Q5 has landed in SA. The Q5 SUV and Sportback, SQ5 SUV and SQ5 Sportback have all arrived at once. The S line is standard across the range, along with quattro, S tronic and Audi's Digital Stage cockpit. Prices start from R1,275,000.
For the speed seekers, the SQ5's V6 gets to 100km/h in a manufacturer-claimed 4.5 seconds. All the Q5s leave the dealership floor with a five-year/100,000km Audi Freeway Plan, so regardless of which one you choose, your servicing costs are for first five years are known.
So after two years of previews, there are now four ways for you to own one.

Mas'gcwaliseni! Mas'gcwaliseni! Four! Four! Ungasali! The call comes before the vehicle. Then the shift up to make room, the “Sho’t left” for a stop and the fare passed forward through three sets of hands.
Commuters gave the Toyota HiAce a name of their own: Zola, after Zola Budd, SA's fastest barefoot runner. It proved it wouldn't be slowed down no matter the weight it was carrying.
From the early eighties, Toyota's local minibus carried the name Siyaya. “We are going”. When the Taxi Recapitalisation Programme brought in new safety rules, Toyota estimated 80% of the country's minibus taxi fleet was already a Siyaya. Its replacement needed a name to match that inheritance, so it became Ses'fikile. “We have arrived”.
Quantum came next and never needed a nickname.
Whatever it says on the back, the call stays the same.

The name of the community group chat can make a stranger's message feel safer than it is. But people move in and out, contractors get added, and while the name stays the same, the people in the group keep changing.
So if you're thinking of buying something off a group like this, check the seller with someone you know before you pay over any money. Also, if you've ever had a bad experience with someone on a group, report it and tell others what happened to you. Staying quiet about a bad experience helps a scammer find their next target.

The question with an entry price is what it leaves out. The B10 starts at R499,900 with the driver-assist suite, the 360-degree camera, the panoramic roof and the 14.6-inch screen as standard.
What is optional is the charging.
As a Range Extender Electric Vehicle (REEV), only the 158 kW electric motor drives the wheels, and the 1.5-litre petrol engine runs as a generator, topping up the 18.8 kWh battery when the charge level drops. So the daily driving runs on electricity charged at home overnight, and the 50-litre tank takes over for longer trips, up to a manufacturer-claimed 900 km combined.

In 2020, every electric vehicle sold in South Africa cost more than R500,000. According to naamsa, in the first five months of 2026, more than half cost less than R500,000.
Here is a selection of four electrics that carry more than enough range for the daily commute, and one Hybrid that pairs its battery with a petrol engine for longer range. Each one looks the part and comes priced for real life.
Our personalised online affordability tool checks what fits your budget. Compare deals across more than one car so that you can weigh up all five on your own numbers.

Who decides what your car will be worth when you trade it in?
When you're choosing between cars, you can compare the price, fuel economy, features and service plan. What you can't look up is what each one will be worth years from now. That's usually left to the used car market.
With Guaranteed Future Value (GFV), that amount is agreed on before you sign. You choose your mileage upfront, and as long as the GFV requirements are met, such as keeping within the wear and tear guidelines, the guaranteed amount stands. At the end of the term you can return the car, keep it by settling or refinancing the GFV amount, or trade it in for your next GFV contract.
If resale value matters to your decision, see how GFV works on our website and whether it's available on the car you're considering.
Fuel price hike incoming! The timer is counting down to midnight on Tuesday... Make sure you refuel in time.

You don't have to be sure about going electric to start driving one.
That's the case the range-extender Dongfeng Forthing Friday makes. It will always feel like an electric car, on a 120kW motor, with the 1.5-litre petrol engine that’s not there to turn the wheels. It charges the battery when the charge level drops and that's what separates a range extender from a hybrid. So for your daily runaround, home-charged electricity will do the trick, within a manufacturer-claimed 200km. For the December drive to the coast, you won't be bound to a route with charging stations. The Dongfeng claims 1,300km combined.
If you've been holding off going electric because being limited to where the charging networks reach doesn't appeal, then this Dongfeng speaks your language.
Want to make it Friday every day? Start with our personalised online affordability tool and see what fits, before you book a test drive.

WesBank finances cars bought from private sellers, whether it's someone you know or a car you found in an online advert. We do more than lend you the money, and the biggest part of that is the technical inspection we insist on.
A roadworthy certificate is all that's legally required for the car, but it doesn't tell you about the state of the engine, gearbox or electronics. The technical inspection looks at the mechanical condition, and you see what it finds before you sign anything.
From there, WesBank pays the seller.

Every car has a hometown. This Transport Month, we're celebrating what moves us, starting with what's built here. Take a look through South Africa's best-selling locally assembled vehicles, according to naamsa, and the landmarks near where they're put together. How many can you place? Here's a clue for the first one: SA Auto Week will take place in the Hilux's hometown from 13 to 16 October.
If one of them is on your shortlist, check what you could afford using our personalised, real-time online affordability tool, so you can walk into the dealership knowing your number.
A picture is worth a thousand words. None of them give you a feel for how big a car is.
We got a first look at the new T-Roc at the Festival of Motoring in August, days before it reached dealer floors. It's 122 mm longer with 28 mm more between the wheels. The hockey stick line still runs from the A-pillar back, so you know what it is before you find the badge.
