By now, many of you have probably seen the news: I have cancer. Today, I want to tell you what actually happened — in my own words.
How a trip to the emergency room turned into being rushed to an ICU.
How close I came to not making it home.
The people who saved my life.
The little girl who gave me every reason in the world to keep fighting.
And what happens now.
There's a treatment plan. There's hope.
And I will, OF COURSE, be fighting.
But there's another part of this that I need to talk about, too.
I need some help.
That's not particularly easy for me to say.
I've spent most of my adult life making music and being supported by this incredible community of friends, fans, fellow artists and wonderfully weird people all over the world.
Today, I'm asking that community to rally around me in a different way.
This week's Sunday Story is probably the most important thing I've ever written.
I'm home.
I'm alive.
And now, together, we fight.
