I honestly don't understand why most software ship with dozen+ boolean flags when bitwise operations would carry a single summary of the whole state and make everything easier/faster to reason about. if you mention "only 31 options to deal with" I remind you BigInt works too 🤷

this is how I've solved possible ID saturation on most of my projects: don't just id++ if you want to be sure that such id is unique, use Int32Array or Uint32Array instead to let the ID cap and reset without issues, granting safety against MAX_SAFE_INTEGER github.com/tarwin/tinyjsapp/…

I know that 9007199254740991 feels like a big number, but if you think about it, are you designing software that will eventually break/explode or you believe your logic could run for hours, weeks, years without ever breaking? the ++id on integers is great until it's not in JS 👋

wanna try a concrete example? there we go: let id = Number.MAX_SAFE_INTEGER; ++id === ++id; goodbye program from that time on 🤷

The @NVIDIAAI Sync is a decent tool but if you launch it from a DGX Spark itself it doesn’t configure it as available device for a cluster out of the box so if you have 3 you end up by default configuring the cluster for the other 2 but not 3 🤦

The amount of time wasted for such simple basic yet missing DX has no price. The options are “figure it out yourself you should connect to the ring driver” or “run random scripts from the internet” … way to go Nvidia

today I might have damaged one spark and as much as I'd love to say "accidentally" it was entirely my fault. the bad news, I've no idea if it'll work again, on the bright side, if I manage to fix it you'll have full report as reference ... if not, it's probably my worst mistake.

I just spent 3 hours with fable creating the perfect feature sol did a thorough review grok did a simplicity pass, catching extra guardrails that should not exist and code that is just superfluous sol did one more pass ensure simplicity didn't break any contracts and all of this to produce one of the worst interfaces I have ever seen. Actual pure insanity

True. The “I’m X developer because it’s better than Y” days are just laughable these days (that’s always been the case but now is also pointless to even debate). Web lands JS, that’s the only constraints. BE could be anything 🥳

I’m seeing teams at Vercel iterate just as fast on Zig, Go, Rust projects as TypeScript & Python ones. The days of language or runtime choice based on human convenience are over. Agents are the new compilers. They compile intent into fast software.

The only convenience around JS as the whole stack is that its documentation, knowledge, features, caveats or practices can be a unique source of skills + extra for the BE only things. That’s also kinda cool but Rust or GO are cool too, LLM will do a decent job with compiler guard

closing: we're better with AI and yes, @andrestaltz might have approved something that was already supervised, tested and approved by others, the video doesn't tell enough of that PR story, but "use AI to your convenience, not to skip duties" was the message around this thread 😇

Oh but you totally have not seen my code, and you have literally zero idea what you're talking about. I care about code quality (up until the point it actually matters for users, for security, for performance etc), and I have various agentic loops to improve code quality.
