Wintrust Bank scandal reminds me of when I used AI to create a cartoon of Ald. Moore's "Backbiting snake!" tantrum. I rightly got an earful from readers, and promised not to use AI for SBC images again!

As always, Susan Collins counted votes and decided she could vote no and the bill would still pass, thus saving her golden seat in the Senate. She and Murkowski seem to have a pact--whose turn is it to vote no this time?

You don't hire a racist comedian to warm up the crowd at your campaign rally unless you think the crowd at your campaign rally will laugh at racist jokes. Thank you for listening to my TED talk.

With regard to the presidential election, there are no undecided voters in the United States at this moment. Not a one. There are voters who will cast a ballot for the diametrical opposites of Trump or Harris and a handful who will waste their vote on a third-party pout. And then there are a mass of people who despite all the evidence available that American democracy itself is at stake, don't care enough to show up and do the job of citizens. That's it.
I'm not calling any voter at this point undecided. That's too nice a word for indifference and ignorance; it wrongly implies ongoing engagement and thought.

It is jarring reading a 2024 campaign story that is written correctly. This is one of them.
You will be shocked while reading it by how simple it is to cover this guy correctly — through the lens of reality — and how rarely you see articles like this.

It is long past the moment when mainstream journalistic assessments of the Republican nominee to helm this republic should plainly refer to him as a fascist. The hate-speech erupting from him day after day is no longer simply provocative or extreme or confrontational, or even fascistic or approximating such. It is a straight-up call to authoritarianism in service of raw hate and fear. Donald Trump is now openly and demonstrably a fascist and he has brought our nation to the brink.
American journalism has one job here. And with a handful of exceptions, it is imploding.
“He’s been taking Americans and his followers on a journey since really 2015 conditioning them … step by step instilling hatred in a group, and then escalating”
