AI Governance Is Quietly Becoming One of the Most Important Fields in Tech The latest UN report is worth reading. One thing really stood out to me... AI adoption alone does not make a country competitive. If the underlying models, compute infrastructure, cloud platforms and even safety standards are controlled elsewhere... then you are still dependent on someone else's ecosystem. That has long term implications. ===== My take I think we are moving beyond the race to build the best models. The next race is AI sovereignty. Countries will want their own compute capacity... their own evaluation capabilities... their own governance frameworks... and eventually their own frontier models.
