We trained our 69th winner of the year yesterday and we’re sitting on £1.2 m prize money but this is one particular statistic we’re very proud of! Thank you James Fanshawe Racing for providing it.

Pompadour's Flat course (pre-dates 1972) was the first AW course in Europe. True or false? Far better known for its chases and Xcountry.

Ombudsman v Calandagan A proper race. The French 1m4f star again gives everything over 1m2f but wasn't good enough on the day against a 10f specialist. Great race to watch. Well done @godolphin

I make allowances for the fact that the Wednesday commentator no longer gives credit where it is due but to say they need to push forward more when they have had 7 shots (only 2 on target) is annoying. The next 4 shots were all on target, 3 going in. HT 3-0

MINNIE HAUK ATR: "Wonderful to see her bounce back to form" Me: I don't see getting btn 5l in the Arc at 32/1 as "out of form". That and her 3rd in the Yorkshire Oaks showed she was still decent if highly unlikely to bt Kalpana (in front of Minnie in their previous 3 races).

Charles Bishop left that late. Would have been an unlucky loser had he not got his nose in front on the line.

I’ve known @gl_racing for upwards of fifty years and doubt there is a harder working man in racing. A tough as teak jump jockey he then forged a terrific career as a trainer and the last time I asked he was still mucking out six horses first thing. What a man and what a family.
🙏 @hayleyjanemoore interviewing father @gl_racing as he announces his retirement, handing the reins over to sons Josh and Jamie. A lovely moment. That’s pretty cool. 👏

IL EST FRANÇAIS Racing Post analysis makes no bones about it. Well done for implying never put into the race, they have another race in mind off a lower mark. Maybe the old Hennessy? NOT READY

1.35 Punchestown CONTADOR was 2nd in a 7runner maiden at Lyon on 21st June. Gordon Elliott paid 120,000 for him at the sales (ex Kuddmonte) Not one of his rivals has won since (they are all ever so slow) so I'm not expecting him to show any promise.

Topspeed @RacingPost He say QUINTILLION can't lose. 12lb in hand. Topspeed right. 💰 Fastest horse going into a 2yo race wins. 😉

3.16 Leicester I thought I had underestimated ENGEDI when Danny T moved him up, travelling well. He couldn't go past Trispen, though. No more lays until Croatia and Czechia this evening.

I thought Dylan Hogan gave my tip, Son Of Light, a good ride. He was close enough if good enough throughout. Simply not good enough. 😐
