On the other day, proving once again horror’s great momentum at US #BoxOffice, exhibitors have already over 3.500 theatres so far booked to screen #DCU’s first body horror #CLAYFACE. Not only one of the widest releases for horror in 2026, but also almost matching #SUPERGIRL, a traditional SUMMER blockbuster, which had 3.612 theatres in its opening weekend.
With 10 days yet to go & very likely more theatres joining after positive reactions, don’t be shocked if #Clayface ends up with a wider release - and maybe even higher opening, what would be an authentic SHOCKER - than SUPERGIRL.

'CLAYFACE' is a shockingly gruesome horror that holds NOTHING back. It goes all the way with it’s grotesque imagery. Surprisingly, it’s also funny. The film goes from darkly depressing to wacky, colourful, and absurd. A welcome change of tone that proves the DCU can do it all.

I can finally say how much I dug #Clayface! A focused character study that finds ways to be creatively brutal, while not forgetting to have some fun. Tom Rhys Harries, Max Minghella, and especially Naomi Ackie on fine form. Along with #Lanterns, a great bounce back for the DCU.

It’s a hard R and loaded with brutal scenes that really surprised me. Audience freaked out a few times during my screening to what was being depicted on screen.

Clayface is something special, original, and completely different from any comic book movie we’ve seen before! It makes you feel for a villain and question whether psychological pain can be more devastating than physical pain, and I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen for a second. Gotham has never felt this dangerously exciting… can’t wait to watch this PEAKface again!!

Clayface is a gritty throwback to not only the hardboiled revenge thrillers and low-budget horror flicks of the ‘50s and ‘60s but also to the cult classics of the ‘80s and ‘90s that paid homage to them. A fun time.

And yeah, extremely confident they have something special, WB lifted social media embargo for #DCStudios’ first body horror CBM #Clayface almost 2 weeks ahead of its debut, and it seems to be a winner!
Critics & fans’ reactions overwhelmingly positive, raving about the film written by #MikeFlanagan & directed by #JamesWatkins - way different from what we saw with #Supergirl where you could tell by the reactions alone something was off - calling the DC film a fantastic, gruesomely loaded with brutal scenes as an authentic hard R which holds nothing back, and even so still find time to be funny to offset a bit of the darkness, marking a completely different tone introduced into the DCU. Lots of praise to #TomRhysHarries’ performance and to the romantic aspects of it, said to be An ode to the classic gothic romances of old and a genuine villain-origin story, not the anti hero gimmick. Some are going as far as calling it the biggest surprise of the year and one of the best horrors of 2026.
