I was at Citifield last night & yes, I cheered for Pete’s 300th & for a curtain call. I don’t think it’s crazy/unbelievable to cheer for an opposing player hitting a milestone. Add in the connex fans feel to Pete, the way he left & you get what you saw. Here’s the thing: this @mets team is a bunch of guys we hardly knew who didn’t perform. And frankly, many of them - like Bichette & Semien - seem to be pretty bland guys. David Stearns is also a bland guy. A bland guy who tried to build a winning team with bland guys. Not a team of winners. ‘24 Mets were winners. There’s a difference. I’m reminded of the goofy Mets tagline from the ‘80s: The Magic is Back.
