The artificiality of Nigeria's existence is clear. Like @didoofficial's Life for Rent, ‘Nothing we have is truly ours’; at least, at the federal level. From adopting Britain’s parliamentary system to jumping at the presidential system of the United States, we still messed it up.

Meanwhile, in Nigeria, some idiots are giving political support and campaigning for a gubernatorial candidate who does not speak the language of the indigenous group he wants to govern. He also does not think the language is necessary!
We may never fully grasp the extent to which colonialism erased our cultures and languages. It is a shame that so few people today know how to write in such indigenous languages.

From a high-pressure belly, your fart might propel you upward and forward. Come to think of it, that's exactly how your car is powered: A 700 bar, 600 liter, 3 second, noisy fart 😆 [Hopefully without the methane and the smelly compounds]

‘…poor states need to fathom historical change, tackle the conundrum of international relations and learn from the pitfalls of their past. As the Yoruba say; “Let the nitwit not wise up so that people (of the world) can revel in taking advantage of them’ - Oluwatoki.
USA is funny sha! People commit crimes in your country. You call them security threats. They're not Nigerians. But, you want to deport them to Nigeria. Tinubu says no. He said we have our own problems to deal with. Now you're angry. How did we offend you?

‘Ebi ń pamí’ is usually translated as ‘I’m hungry’. That simple translation doesn’t do justice. Literally, ‘ebi ń pamí’ suggests ‘hunger is killing me’ or ‘I am dying of starvation’. It’s almost like saying the process of experiencing hunger will result in death if you don’t eat.

You are not going to just die at the first moment you feel the emptiness in your stomach. Starvation does not strike like a bullet to your heart. It is gradual. It is a slow progressive process; an enduring one. Your body consumes its own tissues and lowers metabolic functions.

Isn’t it better for everyone to just go their separate ways with this politics of vendetta and bastardisation of the others?
Tinubu, Akintola, El-Rufai: Why the North Cannot Trust Southwest in 2027 By Mohammed Bello Doka When Nasir El-Rufai stood before the world in June 2022 and declared that 12 out of 14 northern APC governors had agreed to cede presidential power to the South, he was hailed as a statesman, a unifier, a northern leader with the courage to put national interest above regional ambition. He told reporters that day that a super majority of northern governors had taken a decision and that everyone, including the defiant Yahaya Bello, was bound by it . It was a moment of rare political sacrifice from a region that had grown accustomed to holding the reins of power. Today, as El-Rufai languishes in the detention facilities of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), the question that every thinking northerner must ask is this: What did the South do with that sacrifice? The answer is as devastating as it is simple. Silence. Complicity. Continued support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from southern political elites who have paid their media houses, their data boys, and their influencers not only to denigrate El-Rufai but to paint the entire North as a region of power-hungry traitors. And now, these same southern voices expect the North to trust zoning again in 2027. They expect northerners who can see, who can think, who have not been blinded by tribal sentiment, to once again hand over power to a region that has demonstrated exactly what it thinks of northern loyalty. Let us rewind to the beginning. Professor Ishaq Akintola, the founder of the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), has been remarkably candid about his role in this saga. In a press release dated March 23, 2026, Akintola confessed that MURIC was the first to demand a Yoruba Muslim president as far back as February 2021 . He and the Concerned Yoruba Muslim Scholars met and persuaded Tinubu to run. But they quickly realized that Yoruba Muslims alone could not deliver the presidency. They needed a handshake across the Niger. So they networked with northern Muslims and specifically sought out El-Rufai, whom they described as the only northern politician with the necessary political acumen to bring the North together behind Tinubu . The meeting between Akintola, other southwest leaders, and El-Rufai was not a casual affair. It was a strategic intervention. And here is the detail the southern establishment does not want you to remember: When Akintola and his delegation came to El-Rufai, the former governor was not on good terms with Tinubu. They were, by El-Rufai’s own admission, political adversaries. Akintola pleaded with El-Rufai to reconcile with Tinubu and to support the Yoruba Muslim project. And El-Rufai, against the wishes of many in the North, agreed . But where were the other southwest leaders? Who else from the region spoke out in that critical moment? The truth is, aside from Akintola and his small team of Islamic scholars, the southern political establishment was conspicuously quiet. They were happy to receive the North’s gift. They were ecstatic to watch El-Rufai publicly champion power shift, to watch him rebuff the naira redesign shenanigans that threatened Tinubu‘s election, to watch him accompany the candidate to Chatham House and defend the Muslim-Muslim ticket before an international audience . They were silent then because they were winning. They are silent now because silencing El-Rufai serves their purpose. MURIC warned of this betrayal as early as August 13, 2023, when the Senate first withheld El-Rufai’s ministerial nomination. In an emergency statement after its Central Think Tank meeting, MURIC declared that the non-confirmation was a major threat to future alliance between the North and the South-West. The group issued a chilling prophecy: "The North may not hobnob with the South-West again if the champion of the North-South alliance is shabbily treated" . Today, that prophecy is being fulfilled before our very

Translation does not always do justice to many of the things we express in Yoruba language. Sometimes, it dampens the poetic rendition of our everyday expressions. Some of the words do not necessarily have equivalents in English.

The gubernatorial debate in Oyo State must be held in Yoruba language. We want our powerful iya-lọja, baba-lọja, iya ẹlẹran, bọda fọga and everyone to see how the choice of candidates would affect them. Ijọba awaarawa ni.

Paul Williams' CSS view that "stable security will exist only when others are not deprived of it" is not only applicable to national security, but also to international security. You can't perpetually undermine the humanity of others and expect no reaction. Everybody matters.

Anyone could become a Nigerian with proper documentation. Nigeria is an artificial construct and so are Nigerians. As a legal and political construct, we can make laws to even expand what being a Nigerian is or exclude others from it. Being a Nigerian is not pigment-related.
How's she a proper Nigerian babe? You people and your worship for whiteness.

Because Australia, Canada, USA etc are settler colonies created after a prolonged and enduring process of extermination against indigenous groups. At best, they are a mere extension and a mixture of Völkermörder, Ẹ̀rú, later day immigrants etc- it’s not an ojúlówó ethnic nation.
If a white person born in Australia can be Australian without Aboriginal ancestry, and a white person born in America can be American without Native American ancestry, why can't a Black person born in England be English without Anglo-Saxon ancestry?

As someone in social sciences, I envy researchers in engineering, math, natural and physical sciences (biology, chemistry, physics). 1 page of intro/literature review, 2 pages of methods and results (mostly tables and figures), and half a page of discussion. Paper is done🤯

There were actually people from different parts of yoruba land who enlisted in the military because of Ojukwu’s invasion of Ọrẹ. It’s a story for another day.
When Biafran soldiers advanced toward Lagos, they were repelled at Ore in present-day Ondo State. “Oleku ija Ore” Every Yoruba person has a stake in Lagos. It's our baby, so we've protected it from prey and will keep doing so.

If you ask him now, he’d probably be talking about subsidy and Naira. Man, this is the reality of our currency and the actual price of crude oil.
My final advice to Tinubu is to resigns honourably or loses disgracefully. #Votetinubuout #tinubumustgo

What we have in many African countries today is a continuation of the colonial process by 'colonial-minded' elites. The more reason we must adopt Yoruba language in old 'Yoruba countries'. We have wannabe leaders who do not care to learn the local language. Colonial mentality.

The indigenous group wants a Yoruba-speaking governor for Lagos State - a basic requirement BTW - yet, we have folks with neo-colonial mindset crying that it’s unnecessary. You might as well bring back a Henry Stanhope Freeman since language is irrelevant and we are ‘English’.
