While legislators demonize local cities on property tax reform, they shifted risk from Citizens to the backs of consumers. Amendment 3 is flawed and should be sent back. Give Floridians comprehensive relief which includes property insurance and property taxes. sun-sentinel.com/2026/09/25/…
Immigration enforcement is not immune to the very laws it enforces. As the mayor of @CityofMiramar, it is infuriating to see the images of the overcrowded ICE facility in our city. The capacity is 50 persons. The whistleblower photo documents over 300! People should not be packed in rooms like animals in this country. sun-sentinel.com/2026/09/21/…
Join us tomorrow as we remember those who lost their lives 25 years ago on 9/11
A piece of history made its way from New York to Miramar. 🇺🇸
Take a look back at their journey to Miramar. Today, the beams stand prominently at the 9/11 Memorial at Miramar Regional Park, alongside engraved pavers and benches honoring loved ones and those who continue to serve our nation.
Come see the memorial and experience these pieces of history for yourself.

@CoconutPalmElem we had a strong start of the school year and we closed out even stronger. @AP_NColey and I walked all classrooms to deliver popcorn to reward our amazing staff. #bcps

This is a flawed amendment that should go back to the legislature and the next governor. Taxpayers deserve property tax relief that responsibly allows municipalities to provide the level of service their constituents deserve and want. #HomeRule
The property tax proposal initially pushed by Gov. Ron DeSantis can’t appear on the ballot the way his office wrote it, a Tallahassee judge ruled late Monday night. sun-sentinel.com/2026/08/04/…
This callous end to TPS for Haitians is nothing short of cruel. There is no logic or rationale justification that Individuals here under TPS should be required to go back to Haiti given its current political and violent state d TPS. Congress should and must extend TPS for them.
Awesome job @CoconutPalmElem well deserved. 🎉💥🎉💥

Statement from the Office of Mayor Wayne M. Messam on the Supreme Court TPS Ruling Affecting Haitian Families
The Office of Mayor Wayne M. Messam strongly opposes the Supreme Court’s decision to allow the termination of Temporary Protected Status for Haitian nationals.
This ruling is wrong and deeply troubling.
Haitians under TPS fled violence, instability, and disaster—conditions that have only worsened. Haiti continues to face severe unrest, gang violence, and humanitarian crises. Sending people back puts lives at risk.
TPS holders are vital members of our communities—workers, parents, and taxpayers who contribute to our economy and society. Many have built lives here over years.
This decision ignores reality and threatens to separate families and destabilize communities.
Miramar stands with its vibrant Haitian American community and values their contributions.
I urge federal leaders to act with urgency and compassion to protect Haitian TPS holders and provide a permanent solution.
America must not turn its back on those who came seeking safety and have followed the law.
Miramar currently invests more than $4.44 million in senior related services, including Senior Services and Adult Daycare.
These are programs our seniors count on for care, transportation, wellness, recreation, referrals, and support.
But if the November property tax ballot question passes, it will be illegal for the City to use property tax dollars to fund senior services.
That means services our seniors depend on could be placed at risk.
So the question is simple:
Is that what you want for your city?
Is that what you want for our seniors?
Our seniors helped build Miramar. We should protect the services that help support them.
These are your property tax dollars at work.
Could Miramar respond to a major hurricane without raising taxes?
Yes. Absolutely.
Public safety comes first. Our budget includes emergency reserves to help clear streets, remove debris, activate distribution sites, power critical infrastructure, and keep residents informed when it matters most.
These are your property tax dollars at work.

Today, we celebrate Juneteenth a day that reminds us that freedom delayed is still worth fighting for, and that progress is never guaranteed without vigilance, courage, and collective action.
Juneteenth is more than a commemoration of the end of slavery in America. It is a testament to the resilience of a people who endured injustice, overcame barriers, and continued to believe in the promise of a more perfect union.
As we reflect on this historic day, we must also acknowledge the challenges of our present moment. Across our nation, there are renewed efforts to erase history, diminish hard-fought gains, and question the value of diversity, equity, and inclusion. These challenges are not merely political debates they are reminders that the struggle for justice and equal opportunity continues.
The answer to these challenges is not division, hatred, or despair. It is unity. It is education. It is civic engagement. It is peaceful resistance. It is ensuring that future generations understand the sacrifices made by those who came before us and the responsibility we have to protect their legacy.
Let us honor Juneteenth not only with celebration, but with purpose. Let us support one another, strengthen our communities, defend truth, and continue the work of building a nation where freedom, opportunity, and justice belong to all.
Our ancestors endured far greater obstacles and still found a way to persevere. We owe it to them and to those who will come after us to keep moving forward together.
Happy Juneteenth. ❤️🖤💚

New from me: He swiped right. She was recording everything.
In December 2024, Rob Field, then a top aide to Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy of New Jersey, met a woman on Bumble. Over five months of texting, dates and calls, he came to believe that the woman who identified herself as Leah Andrews might be his “forever person.”
But just over five months after they first met, surreptitiously recorded videos of their dates and calls were posted online by conservative influencer Steven Crowder. And “Leah” was not a progressive nurse. A lawsuit filed this week identifies her as a Florida woman named Alysia Gamble.
According to public records and online videos, Gamble — who is married with kids — was a former QAnon organizer.
