it's it's own alternate timeline but it's inspired by and carries the vibe of Star Wars I just don't think that's enough - I'd prefer a bit more effort to be made with integrating the film with the source material

fit this into the RE franchise had they made it its own contained outbreak within the same timeline as the games with a bit of effort would've been nice to have more RE iconography tho too. I don't think they even showed the Umbrella logo at all. It is what it is, I guess.
