I agree the book makes Dumbledore look terrifying, but I think the Elder Wand deserves way more credit here. He wasn't just an insanely powerful wizard. He was using the most powerful wand in existence. That absolutely matters when you're going up against Voldemort. Dumbledore already had the skill and experience, and then you add the Elder Wand on top of that? That's a pretty ridiculous combination. Voldemort was throwing Killing Curses at him while Dumbledore was defending Harry and controlling the fight. The Elder Wand was definitely a major part of that advantage. #HarryPotter
If you compare the movie fight to the book, Voldemort honestly looks way less scary in the movie. The book makes it clear why this man feared Dumbledore. Voldemort was throwing Killing Curses at him, while Dumbledore was basically controlling the entire fight and protecting Harry at the same time. And the craziest part? Dumbledore wasn’t even trying to kill him. Voldemort was fighting like his life depended on it. Dumbledore was fighting like Voldemort was just another problem he needed to contain. The book version made Dumbledore look absolutely terrifying.

Rewatching Idris Elba in The Suicide Squad really reminded me how badly the MCU underutilized him as Heimdall.

I have a question: who or what actually created Surtur, and why can he only truly die when he destroys Asgard? Is there any deeper lore behind this, or is it simply tied to the prophecy of RagnarĂśk?

This scene was insane because it didn’t feel like a heroic passing of the torch at all, it felt like a desperate, ugly mugging. Stripping away all the cosmic spectacle for a raw fistfight was brilliant and you have Hal terrified of being obsolete and John convinced he earned it, yet Hal still burned his last ounce of willpower just to shield John when the strike hit. Then John physically prying the ring off Hal’s fingers with zero glory, just that haunted “Was it worth it?” echoing in the rubble… Pierre’s face said everything. It wasn’t a triumph, just pure hollow disillusionment. The show making the most powerful weapon in the universe feel like a toxic curse instead of a prize is peak writing.
this scene was heartbreaking #lanterns

Rather than rewriting the lore, Lanterns appears to be drawing from an established comic precedent. While power rings can autonomously search for and select candidates during emergencies as Abin Sur’s ring did when it scanned Earth in 1986 and ultimately chose Hal Jordan. The Guardians of the Universe have also historically possessed the authority to personally recruit and assign Lanterns, as they did with John Stewart in his 1971 debut. The series therefore keeps the ring’s automated selection system intact while using Guardian Lianna’s covert grooming of John to create a deeper thematic conflict: Hal represents raw instinct and algorithmic selection, while John is shaped by the calculated micromanagement of Oan bureaucracy.
Aren’t Green Lantern rings supposed to choose their wielder or is Lanterns completely changing the lore here? #Lanterns

Honestly, you might’ve cracked this. Tom King wrote the pilot after years on Batman, so there’s no way he gave a Gotham transplant the last name “Kane” and had her casually tell Jim Gordon to say hi to Barbara by accident. With Gunn’s DCU already having Bruce’s history and Damian Wayne, Kelly Macdonald feels less like a rookie and more like Kathy Kane, the classic Batwoman who stepped away or went deep undercover. It also explains her character perfectly. A Gotham-hardened background would explain why a small-town sheriff barely flinches when two Green Lanterns drop into her murder case. Even if she never wears the cowl again, using her to quietly connect the Bat-Family to the cosmic side of the DCU is brilliant.
I have a theory that Kerry Kane from Lanterns is being set up as the DCU’s Batwoman. She’s from Gotham. Last name Kane. And in episode 1 she ends a call with “Tell Barb I say hey” — that’s almost certainly Jim Gordon on the other end. She already knows the Commissioner. That’s not random. That’s James Gunn quietly building the Bat-Family years early. I think Batwoman is coming. 🦇 #DCU #Lanterns #Batwoman

Harry and Voldemort meeting for the first time. I think this scene is so absurd. First of all, Voldemort is pathetic. Second, how do you send a bunch of kids who barely knew how to defend themselves into the Forbidden Forest at night? They were first-year students. This could have ended really badly for Harry if Firenze hadn't shown up to help.

Tony Stark built the Mark I in a cave with a box of scraps. Now imagine what that same man could build with the technology of an entire advanced civilization at his disposal. What is Tony even capable of in those conditions?

One thing I've always wondered about Avengers: Endgame: Why didn't Thor use the Bifrost to bring Tony and Nebula back from Titan? If he could travel through the Bifrost, wouldn't that have saved them from being stranded in space?

How long do you think Age of Ultron would’ve lasted if Magneto had been in the MCU? Ultron is made of metal, has an army of metal drones, and spends half the movie throwing machinery around. Magneto showing up would’ve been an absolute nightmare for him.

Two major characters died within the first 10 minutes of Infinity War. Now I’m wondering who gets that treatment in Doomsday. Loki died early, but a variant of him later escaped with the Tesseract. So I could see Doomsday killing off someone major almost immediately just to establish how brutal and dangerous Doctor Doom is.

And honestly, that’s why I think the duel gets underrated. Dumbledore was already one of the greatest wizards alive, then give him the Elder Wand and put Voldemort in front of him. 😭
