Going to be interesting to see the team @PenrithPanthers name today for the third placed playoff match against the @dolphinsnrl on Friday. Might be some late outs. #nrl
This is not a new problem, and send-offs need to become mandatory for hip drop tackles, along with appropriate suspensions.
It’s way past time the sport got serious on this issue.

The current suspensions for hip drop tackles, relative to the damage they’re causing and weeks being missed by players with knee/ankle/hip injuries, are not long enough to be the deterrent they should be.
Time to ratchet-up the holidays for guilty players.

If you asked 100 Australians if flying across the Pacific Ocean the day before an NFL game was a good idea, there’d be 99 who would say no and one who didn’t own a passport.
The ‘lag is real.

The Panthers have secured a top two finish with the Dolphins win over the Roosters, & the Warriors can book their own top two finish with a win against the Knights.
Hard to imagine any of the stars of both teams playing in Rd 27, so cue the annual debate re teams resting players.
You could kick thousands of footballs and never produce the perfect knuckleball that Nathan Cleary just served up to Conner Tracey.

“Additionally, due to unavoidable changes in the entertainment program for LIV Golf Indianapolis, the League informed Thomas Rhett and Disco Lines that their live musical performances will no longer take place”.
LIV Golf today confirmed that the League's 2026 season finale will celebrate an Indianapolis Champion, the 2026 Season Individual Champion and top three finishers and the 2026 Team Champion at the LIV Golf Indianapolis 2026 Championships.
The four-day stroke play event will take place Aug. 20-23, at The Club at Chatham Hills where 57 players will contend for the Indianapolis individual title and final spots in the League's individual season-long standings. The team competition will count the scores of all four players on each team every day, culminating with one of the 13 teams being crowned the 2026 LIV Golf Team Champion.
With LIV Golf Indianapolis serving as the final event of the season, the previously scheduled Aramco LIV Golf Michigan, originally set for August 27-30, at The Cardinal at Saint John's Resort, will not take place. LIV Golf is grateful to the Pulte Family Foundation for their partnership and support. Additionally, due to unavoidable changes in the entertainment program for LIV Golf Indianapolis, the League informed Thomas Rhett and Disco Lines that their live musical performances will no longer take place. LIV Golf recognizes the disappointment these changes may bring for fans, local stakeholders, Thomas Rhett and Disco Lines, and appreciates the significant time and effort invested by the artists and their teams.
Ticket holders for the Michigan event will receive refunds. While LIV Golf Indianapolis will still offer four incredible days of competition, ticket holders for the event can find more information regarding their options here: events.livgolf.com/indianapo…

When details of the inner workings of LIV begin to filter out once everybody feels freed to talk, the stories of excess and largesse will be gobsmacking.
LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil held a captains meeting at JCB after the Asian Tour news broke. Captains were assured there is interest from potential investors, but the lack of details has done little to calm nerves. 7 players have told me directly they plan to leave the league after the season finishes, regardless of whether LIV Golf finds funding.
Younger players are looking at the route Patrick Reed and Eugenio Chacarra have taken to earn PGA Tour membership via the DP World Tour, and see that as the best option for their careers. Other more senior players are looking at ensuring they’re eligible for the PGA Tour Champions route that Pat Perez is taking.
The decision for the Asian Tour to join the global pathway system has also helped some lower profile players make up their minds. While they wouldn’t have status on the DP World Tour to follow the route of Patrick Reed, most of them do have status on the Asian Tour through their play on The International Series and can work their way up to the PGA Tour that way.
One player told me under the condition of anonymity:
“I have to look after myself and my career. Every year I play on LIV is another suspension. I can play the next few events and make as much money as I can and then play in Asia and get DP invites. I could be on the PGA Tour in 2 years if I play well.”
The last 7 weeks were imperative for the future of the league and there appears to be no substantial progress on securing investment. Officials are talking positively, as they always do, but without an investor officially signing and releasing funds, it means nothing. Players, are rightfully, making alternative plans to secure the future of their careers.
