When you grow up in a small town you think “ I can’t wait to leave the small Town”. What you can’t replace is the memories and people that make the place special. Yesterday Winthrop took home a state title. Surrounded by thousands of Viking fans and supporters. My nephew a freshman was able to be a part of this team. What makes the story special is everyone in those stands would stand behind these kids at any moment. In 2022 my nephew lost his mother to a courageous battle with cancer. The senior goaltender has a story for the ages also losing his mother but the path he has took to be the best person/ student out there. The list goes on .. It’s more than just a game for these kids in this small town. It’s about the support the get from those around them during times of need. It was an emotional day. But in the end “it’s for the town”. Congrats Vikings.
