#21- JJ Wetherholt hits an little league grand slam on the way to a 6-0 #STLCards victory
Nathan Church- The only reason Nathan was in the Opening Day lineup was because Lars Nootbaar was injured and the Cardinals needed another outfielder. This season as a rookie, Church slashed .247/.290/.364 with 2 OAA. He was solid almost the whole season, other than a couple cold stretch’s in April and July.
Justin Bruihl- The Cardinals didn’t have many experienced players on their Opening Day roster, Bruihl was one of them with 5 years of MLB service time. He was awesome this year, having a 3.59 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP in 73 games. Espically from May 25 to the end of the year, posting a 2.78 ERA during that timeframe.
Andre Pallante- There were very low expectations for Andre Pallante this season. Coming off a season with a 5.31 ERA and a 1.44 WHIP, he was suppose to just be a guy that could eat innings. Suprisingly, he was the Cardinals most consistent and best starter. He had a 3.83 ERA with a 1.27 WHIP in 162 IP this year.
#STLCards players that surprised me this season and why. A thread,
Gordon Graceffo- I was not very high on Gordon at all after he put a 6.28 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP in 2025. He made many improvements this season, adding a new slider that really unlocked him. He got his ERA down to 2.67 this year and his WHIP down to 1.10. He was really good down the stretch especially.
Jose Fermin- As a UTIL man, Jose wasn’t expected to play much when he made the Opening Day roster but he actually played a career high 118 games. For his role, he was phenomenal. The numbers aren’t eye popping, but a .248 AVG with just a 13.5% K Rate were very nice. He was a great PH option off the bench late in games vs LHP.

Michigan has benched QB Bryce Underwood.
True freshman QB Tommy Carr has entered the game.
Gordon Graceffo posted a 1.94 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP with a 9.72 K/9 in his last 28 games.
Luis Gastelum posted a 2.31 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP with a 13.11 K/9 in his last 22 games.
In a season where the #STLCards bullpen really struggled late in the year, Gastelum & Graceffo were amazing down the stretch.
