Sweet little PD Buster is in kennels during the week whilst his dad works hard to train a potential new police dog.
PD Buster is a drugs cash and firearm detection dog and loves his job and also his ball.
He also likes to pull silly faces when the camera comes out.
This is an amazing effort and all for a great cause! Please share and donate where possible 💙
Two colleagues have set themselves an amazing task to cycle 600 miles between them during October and we are so pleased to say they’re doing it to raise funds for us!
Please donate where you can and share as much as possible. Good luck to April and Beth!

Thank you for your continued support. Continue to enjoy your retirement, Diesel 💙 🐾
At 9 and a half years of age, the time has finally come for PD Astra to hang up her harness and put her feet up.
Astra begun with WYP in 2017 when she was allocated to her handler at 9months old, going on to qualify from an initial course in 2018.
During her 8 and a half years dedicated service, Astra has proved to be a formidable force. Despite weighing in at only 24kg, she went on to apprehend countless prisoners, proving that it's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog.
Despite her ferocious nature when working, she always had time for a cuddle in between jobs with her district team mates.
During her career, Astra has represented the force at the @Firesidek9 police dog trials, winning the event in her first year of service. She later went on to win the dog and handler of the year team for 2024.
Astra now looks forward to a life of sofa cuddles, treats, leisurely walks and belly rubs at home with her handler, whilst handing over the reigns to new boy PD Rico.
Congratulations, R/PD Astra. Enjoy that R, Wishing you a long and happy retirement girl! You've more than earned it ❤️❤️❤️

Some amazing little members of the WYP Dog section have celebrated their 5th birthday this week.
I’m sure you will all remember the new puppies all brothers that joined us 5yrs ago?
PD Chester, is the red cocker spaniel and working as an Explosive detection dog. He is the grumpy one of the brothers.
PD Chase, (with the white chest), he is working as a drugs, cash and firearms detection dog and is often seen performing at demonstrations and open days showing off his exceptional nose skills.
PD Scout (ball in mouth) he also is a drugs, cash and firearms detection dog.
Here he is showing us all what they all love the most.. a ball, a ball is life to these dogs that is all they want in life. Along with kisses and cuddles from their amazing handlers and kennel staff.
TPD Delta got to meet some new friends today.
TPD Rocket and another new arrival,
TPD Hattie she’s 11mths old and looking amazing during her assessments, so paws crossed she will soon be a fully qualified Police dog.
Enjoy a couple of minutes of puppy’s having fun.
🌞🐾 PD Fury’s Beating the Heat! 🐾🌞
Even our four-legged crime fighters need to stay cool when the temperatures soar! 😎
PD Fury has been making the most of the sunshine with plenty of fresh water, time in the shade, and one of his favourite summer treats… an ice pop! 🍦❄️ He’s even kind enough to share it with his handler PC Parsonage
When the weather heats up, the welfare of our police dogs always comes first. Training is adapted to suit the conditions, regular breaks are taken, and our police vehicles are fitted with air conditioning to help keep the dogs comfortable while they’re travelling or waiting between deployments.
A little cooling off means Fury is always ready to get back to work when he’s needed.
Stay safe, stay hydrated, and enjoy the sunshine responsibly! ☀️💙🐕
This is amazing! Thank you for all you have done as a handler and a trainer over the 23 years on the department. What an achievement and it’s been an honour to work alongside you. Congratulations to Ian, Sox and Sam and we wish you a very happy retirement
PD Hades has proven he’s the dog for the job! 🐾
With just one month on the frontline, PD Hades is already making an impact.
PD Hades and his handler were deployed this morning (7 July) after two men were reported to be seen on CCTV inside a home in Adel, Leeds.
After the suspects refused to come downstairs and attempted to barricade themselves inside a room, PD Hades was sent in to assist, helping officers safely detain both men.
The two men aged 44 and 46 were arrested on suspicion of burglary and currently remain in custody.
Some great work by PD Hades and everyone on West Yorkshire Police’s dog unit! 🎉
When off duty PD Hades lives at home and enjoys having a wrestling with his handlers pet dog.
Although I don’t thinks he’s winning this one!

Please welcome our Newest Recruit T/PD Delta
He is an 8 week old German shepherd puppy that joined the Dog Section last week.
Delta is currently living with one of the officers on the dog section where he has already started his puppy development and training, which includes environmental exposure, socialisation, engagement and lots of play.
Apparently his current personality is confident, loud and happy, With a piranha side 😂
We can’t wait to watch this little pup grow.
During this extreme weather please take a moment and spare a thought for all the emergency services out there. Especially the fire service because sleeping in this heat is going to be particularly difficult.

Last month PC Roxy Cramp ran the Leeds Half Marathon in memory of PD Roost. She earned sponsorship for the event and managed to raise an amazing £1130 for Fireside K9! Thank you from all the retired dogs. Roost will never be forgotten. 💙
Sunday mornings with PD Ruudy and PD Murdock looks like this…
6.30am stroll through the long grass and woodland with a pond dip thrown in because they like to get filthy.
Followed by breakfast and a full kennel clean.
This morning there was time for them to have a doggy spar session of a shower, massage and a good groom. Followed by lots of tasty treats.
Then mid morning is another walk for them to get filthy again.
Spoilt boys ❤️
Proud to have helped out today with the safety and security of the Kings visit to Knaresborough and Harrogate. A great team effort working in hot and difficult conditions but a very successful and safe event 📸 by @NYorksPolice
This was an amazing day and a fantastic tribute to working animals. We were very proud to be a part of it.
A week ago today, we held a Thanksgiving at @GlosCathedral dedicated to our serving & retired service animals throughout the UK.
The wonderful Tom Wakefield of @CotswoldTV made this beautiful highlights video.
Seems so long ago - but this will be a special memory for us.
