Going angling 🎣 boating ⛵️or paddling 🛶 abroad? Keep your kit clean so you don't accidentally spread invasive plants, animals or diseases which can block waterways and kill fish. After you leave the water, remember to: 🔎Check 🚿Clean ☀️Dry nonnativespecies.org/checkcl…

Field work is not going well this year - too much water! - although when we can get out it's good. Moy was a great chance to catch up with friends old and new, while the craic at sweep netting keeps us all going (amazing volunteers that brave all to help and entertain).

Good to get out and about, although the weather hasn't been too kind. Still, electrofishing has started, along with some invasives work and sweep netting. Fingers crossed that summer eventually arrives :)

If something could go wrong it did, but excited to note that the materials for the eel passes are finally here. Can't move in the office, but really looking forward to getting them fitted and hopefully start to see elvers in the upper catchment :) #NatureRestorationFund

I guess that the electrofishing season has started - rain, mist and general meh! I guess it's good for the fishermen, just not for the biologists. At least June let us get the sweep netting finished, and a nice walk round the Durness limestone lochs to look at management options.

If that's the case we'll not be having any salmonid fishes anymore 😞
The Met Office have released a theoretical forecast for 23rd June 2056. Based on current climate change trends these temperatures will be plausible during intense summer heatwaves in just a few decades.

Killer shrimp are tiny but aggressive. They attack and kill native species including fish eggs. Help prevent the spread of these and other invasive species, remember to #CheckCleanDry your kit after you leave the water. nonnativespecies.org/checkcl…

The end of another successful smolt trapping season. No peak in numbers observed, but a steady stream throughout the sampling period. Many thanks to Colin, SCENE, for the use of the trap and to the Estate for their help with everything.

A very successful round of sweep netting - lovely fish, good weather and great craic. Still buzzing :)

This are getting busy now, with 2 smolt traps running, but great to see some lovely fish passing through. Good to get some decent weather as well - although less of the bitey things would be appreciated!

#FridayChallenge As the last one of the season, I'm going back in time. This was sent in by an angler but apologies as I can't remember who. A lovely photo, but can you identify the beat?
