Dear YouTube Support Team, I am writing as a loyal viewer of Jonathan Lee Riches, known as JONATHANLEERICHESINVESTIGATES, to request a thorough human review of the decision to demonetize his channel. JLR has built a community of more than 550,000 subscribers. To viewers like me, he is much more than a true crime creator. He covers breaking news, brings attention to missing people, and follows developing stories. Just as importantly, he supports others instead of focusing only on his own success. He has helped other creators get started and continues to support their channels. From what I have seen, I believe that if I wanted to start a true crime channel and approached him with respect, he would step up and help me, too. That willingness to help others grow deserves recognition. I regularly choose his live coverage over local and national news because I appreciate his dedication and the effort he puts into keeping viewers informed. I was deeply disappointed when he abruptly ended his livestream and later announced that his channel had been demonetized. I do not know the exact reason for YouTube’s decision. I have heard suggestions that it concerns the disclosure of personal information, but I cannot confirm that explanation. In the broadcasts I have watched, I have seen him make an effort to be careful about what he shares. If specific content violated a policy, YouTube should identify that content, explain the violation clearly, and give him a meaningful opportunity to respond or correct the issue. A decision affecting someone’s livelihood deserves careful consideration, transparency, and a fair appeal. If automated systems played a role, I strongly urge qualified human reviewers to examine the flagged material in its full context. If viewer reports contributed to the decision, please investigate whether those reports reflect actual violations or coordinated attempts to target his channel. I cannot establish that coordinated reporting occurred, but the possibility deserves examination. As a viewer, I am also deeply troubled by the hostility directed toward him. There is a difference between respectfully criticizing someone and trying to tear them down or take away their livelihood. In my opinion, some of the behavior directed at JLR crosses that line. Watching people put so much energy into hurting another person is heartbreaking, and it reflects a larger problem in our world: people choosing to spread hate instead of treating one another with basic decency. I cannot say whether that hostility caused this decision, but I strongly urge YouTube to examine any reports carefully and ensure that its reporting system has not been used as a tool for harassment. I understand that YouTube must enforce its rules, regardless of a creator’s popularity. I am asking that those rules be applied fairly and that criticism or hostility toward a creator never substitute for evidence. Please conduct a full, impartial review, provide JLR with a clear explanation and a meaningful appeal, and restore his monetization if the review determines that the decision was mistaken. His work matters to many viewers, including me, and this decision deserves more than a generic response. BREAKING: 🚨 New standard for calling law enforcement: "I don't know what he's doing." "I don't know what he's saying." "He's not on my property." "But his presence upsets or threatens me." Deputies dispatched. 🤷‍♀️ Now, supposedly this statement came from Savannah Guthrie, Nancy Guthrie's daughter. Personally, I have questions about that. I find it hard to believe that someone living in New York would be so bothered by YouTubers covering her mother's case in Arizona that she would want them arrested. Could she know who they are? Sure. I'm sure she's heard plenty about them over the past several months. Do I believe these creators are causing her enough concern from across the country to justify law enforcement involvement? No, I don't. But if it turns out she did make this complaint, then I think that's disappointing. Just yesterday, she was on television saying they would never stop looking for Nancy. Yet I haven't personally seen any of them out searching. Meanwhile, there are countless people spending their own time, money, and energy helping keep Nancy's name and case in the public eye. They take time away from their own families because they genuinely want answers. You may not like the way some of these creators look, talk, act, or things from their past. That's your right. But if people are trying to help keep attention on Nancy's case, I would hope gratitude would outweigh resentment. And according to the report, the caller reportedly did not know what was being said on the livestream and acknowledged the creators were not on the property. Meanwhile, the rest of us thought law enforcement was supposed to respond to crimes, not hurt feelings. JUST IN from Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher: The preliminary findings from the forensic autopsy of Elena K. Moore did not identify an immediate cause of death. Examination of the body revealed no evidence of traumatic injury, including no bruising, lacerations, gunshot wounds, stab wounds, blunt force trauma, strangulation, or other external injuries. As a result, the cause of death remains pending at this time. Additional evaluation is required, including histological studies, review of medical records, and toxicology testing. No further information will be released by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office until all pending studies have been completed and the pathologist has determined the cause and manner of death.
