The #WOOD4PLASTIC Project has received funding from the European Union’s LIFE programme under grant agreement No Project 101148460 — LIFE23-ENV-ES-WOOD4PLASTIC.
🇪🇪 Last week #WOOD4PLASTIC met in Tallinn for our 4th General Assembly, hosted by Fibenol, and capped it off with a visit to their Imavere biorefinery. We’re now in the final year of the project, and the whole team is focused on making everything come together. Final stretch! 💪
🌍 Bioplastics still make up just 0.5% of global plastics production, but capacity is set to nearly double by 2030 (2.31M → 4.69M tonnes). #WOOD4PLASTIC is helping close that gap with sugars & lignin from hardwood leftovers. 🌱 wood4plastic.eu/
🌱 Great progress from our partner #Dagöplast! Fruit & veg bags hit farmers' markets in June, and 10L OFMSW bags with lignin just rolled off the line. Both carry a QR code for end-user feedback. More #WOOD4PLASTIC products on the way!
In this carousel, we explore some of the key reasons why wood is considered a sustainable material and how its by-products and residues can be given a second life through innovative applications.🌳

Bioplastics account for only 0.5% of global plastics… but they are growing fast🙌🏻
Their production is expected to double by 2030 (from 2.31 to 4.69 Mt)
More innovation, more applications, and more circularity on the way!!
