Today I was presented the Strategic Vision of the Government of Guinea-Bissau on the Reform of the Global Health Architecture under discussion. This resonates well with ongoing l development process of the new Country Cooperation Strategy for the country

A @ONUNews em Bissau conversou com o representante da #OMS na #GuinéBissau, @WMulombo, sobre os esforços em curso para conter a propagação da epidemia de #mpox, com oito casos já confirmados e 47 suspeitos no país:

Today we had a Town Hall with all UN personnel in Guinea-Bissau to brief them on the ongoing mpox outbreak in the country. Staff had opportunity to ask questions on natural history of the disease, symptoms and clinical manifestation, when and where to seek care, how to prevent ..
Last Sunday, I was invited for church service. After the service came the time for tea, coffee and socialization. There were lots of art work on display. Then, as I was going round my attention was caught by something on the wall. I invite you to read through. It’s so true!!!!
Congratulations @BoehmeCatharina a great path. Indeed we will miss you @WHO but not that much
Congratulations, @BoehmeCatharina, on your next role as the @UNFPA Deputy Executive Director.
While we will miss you greatly at @WHO, the UNFPA will benefit from your longstanding leadership in global health.
Thank you for your continued dedication to the #HealthForAll mission.
It will soon be 10 years since we had this strategic meeting, as @DrTedros just started his tenure as @WHO Director General. The world has since changed. The Global Health Architecture was tested by the #Covid19 pandemic. We have learned from it and now have a revised #IHR and a pandemic accord, beside many other critical milestones to make the world safer. But a multilateralism in turmoil is now challenging even the Global Health Security Agenda. Defense spendings and other economic and strategic interests have taken over our commitments to people, peace and prosperity. And yet, the next pandemic is not a question of if. It’s a matter of when. Time is unfortunately on our side. We need to wake up. We need to honor the bravery and legacy of those who left us. Appreciated the opportunity provided by #DRC Prime Minister @SuminwaJudith to brief the diplomatic corps in #Kinshasa on the response to the #Ebola outbreak caused by the Bundibugyo virus.
I updated ambassadors on my mission to Ituri, the province most affected by the outbreak, and on @WHO’s support to the government-led response. This includes scaling up disease surveillance, infection prevention and control, and patient care, including through an Ebola treatment centre inaugurated on Sunday.
I urged the international community to provide the support needed to contain the outbreak in line with DRC’s leadership of the response, while using this crisis as an opportunity to strengthen the health system. I also encouraged countries not to impose travel restrictions on DRC, ensuring health and humanitarian assistance can reach the scale needed to bring the outbreak under control quickly.
Solidarity is our strongest immunity against this outbreak.
This is @WHO the world wants: compassionate, proactive, science driven, committed to excellence in public health, delivering people-centered guidance and services, and most importantly listening. When I see this, when I hear this, I feel energized and confident in the future of multilateral cooperation for better health and well-being for all. @DrTedros my home country is grateful to you and the entire leadership for your gesture. More strength to our first responders @WHOAFRO @AfricaCDC
We will beat this one, like the previous 16 ones, having been myself a responder during the Kikwit Ebola outbreak in 1990s. Now supporting Guinea-Bissau to improve vigilance at borders and preposition essential kits

I had the opportunity to meet with Lieutenant-General Johnny Luboya Nkashama, the Governor of Ituri, which is currently the province in the #DRC reporting the highest number of cases in the ongoing #Ebola outbreak caused by the Bundibugyo virus.
I want to express my appreciation for his strong leadership during this complex crisis, which is further complicated by internal conflict and significant population displacement.
During our discussions, we agreed that a key priority for responding to the outbreak is to enhance the coordination among all health and humanitarian actors, ensuring their operations align with the government’s overall leadership in managing this response.
I emphasized to @WHO and our partners in Ituri the importance of actively listening to and supporting the community. The local population is best equipped to articulate their needs and to identify effective solutions for containing the outbreak.
Felicitations @Presidence_RDC @rdccommeonlaime You did it in the past with the 16 #Ebola outbreaks, you will do it again. Longonya. Keep it up and we stand with you @WHO @ProfJanabi @DrTedros

Mr President, Health Minister @vicatallah, my deep gratitude for your leadership of the 79th World Health Assembly.
I very much appreciate the way you have led this Health Assembly with wisdom, a steady hand, good grace, a dose of humour and Dominican style. #WHA79

am thrilled to sign the African Medicine Agency @AUAMA -@WHO Framework Agreement for Collaboration alongside my sister, Delese Mimi Darko. Together, we will work to enhance access to quality medicines throughout Africa, reinforcing our commitment to #HealthForAll. Continental institutions play a vital and complementary role alongside global organizations, and WHO will continue to provide both financial and technical support.

#WHA79 delegates met this week against a backdrop of outbreaks, conflict, division, uncertainty and constrained resources.
That is exactly the point of multilateralism: not to pretend the difficulties of our world are not there, but to address them together.
That is not automatic. It is a choice.
A choice to prioritise health.
A choice to recognise that no country can address today’s health challenges alone.
A choice to work through @WHO, not only as an institution, but as a shared platform for shared action.
I thank you for that choice.
Once #ARG Always #ARG It was nice to reconnect with @adh_is69 a co-member of the WHO Country Representatives-led Actions For Results Group. ARG was launched as an initiative to spearhead WHO Country Offices Strengthening in response to recommendations of the 11th @WHO Global Management Meeting. Now at its cohort 3, the initiative continuous to inform Organizations wide reforms to empower country offices to deliver on WHO’s core mandate with greater effectiveness, efficiency and impact orientation. It was truly nice to meet in the sides of #WHA79 and look back from our now different positions and roles, and with great sense of fulfillment @DrTedros @WHOSEARO @WHOWPRO @WHO_Europe @WHOEMRO @pahowho @WHOAFRO
