#NLIHC released today “Out of Reach 2025.” Published annually, #OOR25 highlights the gulf between the wages people earn and the price of modest rental housing in every state, county, and metropolitan area in the U.S. This year’s report shows that low-wage workers and other renters with low incomes continue to struggle with the cost of rent. Given the inadequate housing safety net and increasingly unaffordable rents, it is no surprise that homelessness is on the rise. Addressing these challenges requires long-term federal investments in affordable housing and the #HousingFirst model for ending homelessness.

Burien provides the best example of why Washington lawmakers should pass HB 1380, which would require laws related to homelessness be objectionably reasonable. Arresting and fining people will not end homelessness, yet this is what Burien is doing: publicola.com/2025/01/28/cit… #waleg

.@NLIHC and our partners successfully defeated many extreme policies during President Trump’s first term, and we are prepared to do the same now.
NLIHC will also – as we always do – look for potential areas of agreement with all policymakers to advance solutions that protect tenants, alleviate the housing crisis, and advance racial and housing justice.
