Work from our lab showing that plastic mulches are an effective cultural practice for reducing #SWD in #raspberry!
The first paper from my grad research was just published! Plastic mulches reduce #SWD adults by 52% & larvae by 72% in #raspberry in the Upper Midwest 🪰🍓🫐☠️

My MS research with @WI_fruit_ento found that plastic mulches reduce spotted-wing drosophila adult & larval populations in fall-bearing raspberries. Check out this article I wrote for an update on the project:

Introducing PhD student Hanna McIntosh (@hrmcintosh). Hanna is interested in using an agroecological lens to work with farmers to solve 🪰🪲 pest problems. She is currently testing plastic mulches for management of #spottedwingdrosophila in #raspberry.
Hanna is originally from #Oregon and enjoys cooking, gardening, cycling, running, hiking, knitting, embroidery, and traveling. She is also a yoga instructor! Hanna has an adorable cat named Bean (short for Beanelope) who is 100% the most special 😍.
