ALT Six-Month Plan After Graduation STEP 1: Graduation: Once you graduate, your federal student loans enter repayment. In most cases, you will have a six-month grace period. Use our Loan Simulator to find a plan that matches your goals. STEP 5: First Payment: Set up an account on your loan servicer's website to begin making payments. If you enroll in auto pay, you may receive a 0.25% interest rate deduction.
