Carol Leigh aka the Scarlot Harlot coined the term “sex worker” in 1979 in her essay, “Inventing Sex Work.” Today it’s de rigueur. Even hearing people use it begrudgingly brings me pleasure. Activism works. Don’t ever give up.

Today is International Sex Workers’ Day, held to mark the 1975 occupation of Saint-Nizier Church by around 100 sex workers, protesting their criminalised & exploitative living conditions.
