Fun times... I worked @Astro_Ayers during Field Day on 29 June 2025. My video of the contact (mine is at 1:48): youtube.com/watch?v=7gBXLm5l… Then @JonnyKimUSA posted a video with contacts from the ISS side that day (mine is at 1:14): youtube.com/watch?v=Y9VY1uNj… Plus a QSL card. :-)

ISS cross-band repeater was off during 1800 UTC pass, after the scheduled contact on the previous pass. @ARISS_Intl

Listened to ISS on 145.800 & 437.550 during 1620 UTC pass. Heard some SSTV on UHF, NA1SS was calling W4SMA on VHF starting at 1620 UTC until they finally made contact around 1629 UTC near my LOS. Using ID-52PLUS & Elk to monitor both frequencies.

After the pass, I ran my UHF recording through QSSTV to get some pictures. My 3rd pic at 1626 UTC was the best, just started getting a 4th pic approaching my LOS.

After posting this a few weeks ago, I found that WB0FEW is now AE5PL in Texas. I e-mailed him the image of his QSL card. Tonight, Pete sent me images of the card he received from the K9NBH club where I made that 80m CW QSO as K9NBH/WD9EWK many years ago. Wow! Simply, wow!
Found an old QSL card, for one of my first contacts after receiving my original WD9EWK license in 1977. Operating from the radio club on the Great Lakes naval base (K9NBH) north of Chicago, I worked WB0FEW on 80m CW in nearby Evanston.

K9NBH is apparently back on the air now, after a long hiatus. N0RSF was the club's MARS call, before the N prefix became available for amateur calls, and MARS calls went to 3-letter prefixes. KRK-5895 was the CB call sign of the club.

Icom ID-5200. It does cross-band full-duplex, FM and D-Star. It can record audio from both VFOs into separate WAV files, big improvement over ID-5100's recording functionality.

Replying to @WD9EWK
Patrick, thank you so much for the QSO from DM06! Another one checked off the list.

Just finished transcribing recordings from yesterday's passes (two from DM06, DM14/DM15, & DM23/DM24). Some have been processed by LOTW, & a couple are in the queue. Thanks for the QSOs over the past few days!

I also uploaded my log for the SO-50 pass I worked from CM86 Sunday afternoon. It was processed before the LOTW queue exploded in size.

Made it home a couple of hours ago, after a few days in the Bay Area. Lots of driving and operating. Worked from 10 grids in AZ & CA over the past 5 days. Will upload today's logs, along with my Sunday afternoon log from CM86, tomorrow...

NA1SS wasn't on the last ISS pass around 1840 UTC, but a nice turnout of stations. Impromptu demo from parking lot outside @PacificonOrg in CM97. Lots of trees in & around hotel parking lot...

Just heard NA1SS calling CQ JOTA on ISS repeater, just after 1700 UTC. Only 10° max elevation here in CM97-land, but readable using Radtel RT-950PRO & dual-band duckie.

I visited Fort Point in 2016, during @PacificonOrg weekend that year. Weather was very different, strong winds & heavy rain, but pulled off an NPOTA activation via satellite despite the conditions (counted as 3 NPOTA sites!).

From Fort Point, I hear NWS weather radio stations on 6 of the 7 VHF channels. Only 162.525 is silent here.

After nearly a decade of grid chasing, grid # 2000 is confirmed! Every grid has a story behind it, and this milestone would not have been possible without the incredible satellite operators who helped along the way. Thank you all for making it happen! #amsat #hamradio
