1/ Happy International Nurses Day to Lentegeur Hospital!
It was my first time celebrating this occasion at the facility, and I thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality shown to me by our nursing professionals.
My message was simple today: nursing has undergone much change over the
2/ years and is being affected by changes in our various environments. As such, it is going to require us to go beyond our traditional roles and be leaders of our communities. We do this not for ourselves, but our patients.
3/ Thank you to the staff and stakeholders for this event, as well as the police band for their performances.

1/ Our thoughts on the NHI Bill.
While the President has indeed followed through on signing the Bill and has not responded to our letters, we will continue to consider our options on the way forward.
The SA health system needs to be completely overhauled to achieve UHC. But in
2/ order to do that, we need to ensure we have the right foundation and legislation.

A miracle indeed!
The patient rescued after 116 hours is now here at George Regional Hospital being treated by our staff.
Our staff are truly heroes!

The National Minister of Health, Provincial Minister of Mobility and I visited George Mediclinic who have been strategic partners during the health response of this tragedy.
We also had opportunities to engage patients and a survivor of the incident, who was in very good spirits

1/ I am here in George to inspect the operations being performed following the building collapse on Monday.
More than 40 individuals are still unaccounted for currently. However, I am deeply grateful for the many staff, volunteers and people are working around the clock to save
2/ these patients.
Tomorrow I will be joining the Joint Operations Centre meeting before inspect further health services.

This state-of-the-art machine is being donated by Vatech and is done in conjunction with UWC's Dentistry Faculty.

1/ Today we briefed the media and stakeholders on the immense impact our da Vinci surgical robots have had on our services.
Since 2022, the robots at Tygerberg and Groote Schuur Hospitals completed 603 surgeries in total - excluding the two that were being performed today.
3/ of recuperation in hospital.
However, when using the surgical robots, these patients don't need an ICU bed and generally stay for around 5 days in a general bed or post-anaesthesia care unit. Additionally, these patients don't need any blood transfusions or total...
4/ parenteral nutrition (TPN), saving us even more resources and allowing for quicker recovery for patients.
Thank you to the staff, clinicians and stakeholders who are making this possible. We look forward to seeing the work it will do in the future.
