Yesterday was a wild one for Hampton Roads! We broke a daily rainfall record at the airport with 6.31" of rain! We also broke the record for wettest November day which has been standing since 1893!

Heavy rain has led to vehicles being stranded in high water across Hampton Roads. With rainfall totals in the 3-6" range areas like this that are low-lying and in underpasses can flood FAST! This is why we always say "Turn Around Don't Drown"!

The possibility of some heavy rain on Friday is there for parts of southeastern Virginia and North Carolina. With how dry it has been lately this is a welcome site.

Our next best chance for rain will be later this week as a cold front moves into the area and boy do we need it. Models aren't in the best agreement when it comes to rain totals but for right now I would plan on around an inch for parts of Eastern Virginia and North Carolina.

Another quiet night expected around Hampton Roads. Lows will fall into the 40s and 50s under a mostly clear sky and light east breeze. Expect clouds to build through the early morning tomorrow.

Temperatures are back in the low and mid 70s for parts of southeast Virginia and northeast North Carolina! High pressure overhead will keep things clear and comfortable for the rest of the day!

Clear skies and dry air will remain in place tonight thanks to high pressure overhead. Lows will be able to fall into the low 40s inland! There could even be a few upper 30s possible.

Another cool day is in store for Hampton Roads as winds remain steady out of the northeast. Should be perfect for the fall activities!

Yikes! We are looking bone dry across Virginia and North Carolina for the next 7 days. Drought conditions are likely to get worse with the lack of rainfall.

Our coastal storm offshore is now named Subtropical Storm Josephine as it has been strengthening over the warm waters of the Gulf stream. The impacts for Hampton Roads remains the same as the storm pulls away. Beach erosion and minor tidal flooding remains possible.

Oh what a night! The skies have cleared up but we will stay breezy tonight. Have an extra layer on tomorrow morning if you are out early!

Strong onshore winds this evening and for the next several days will continue to allow for tidal flooding for parts of the region during high tide. Areas like the Lynnhaven Inlet have the potential of seeing major tidal flooding while the rest of the southside will be minor to moderate over the next few cycles.

It will be a windy day especially for those along the Outer Banks where 50mph wind gusts are possible. This will kick up a large swell as the day goes on meaning beach erosion and overwash will become a threat later this weekend and early next week.

Minor tidal flooding possible as early as Sunday afternoon for Hampton Roads as a coastal storm develops offshore. Strong onshore winds will allow for multiple days worth of a tidal flood threat.

A cold front will move through tonight and drop our temperatures FAST! Highs this weekend and early next week will be in the 60s with a stiff northeast breeze setting up. Looks like fall is back on.

We will have periods of heavy rain throughout our Sunday as the remnants of Isaias move into Hampton Roads. Some severe weather may roll into the region as well. A level 2 out of 5 risk is out for southeast Virginia and northeast North Carolina. A few tornadoes are possible with the east side rainbands moving through. The best chance for severe weather will likely be mid-late afternoon.
