It would be better to have people going around digging holes and filling them back in again than sitting around on socials securities doing nothing.
French Presidential Candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon: Gross domestic product. I dig a hole, GDP goes up. I fill it in, GDP goes up. I get into my car, drive into a wall, GDP goes up because we have to rebuild the wall and repair the car. GDP is just a monetary valuation.

Reading into the french riots waaaay too much. Yes energy could fuck europe again this winter. But this is the riots only documentated on the wiki page. Theyve average more than a riot a year for the last 20 years! Compared to england, 500 years of civil disorder takes less space
As you watch Paris burn I want you to visualize the pandemonium that would ensue across Europe this coming winter if the cost of energy explodes higher, the costs of the Ukraine war continues to be borne entirely by the European populace, and Trump decides to start escalating tarrifs again as part of a broader crackdown on transshipments or under the Graham Act. Now close your eyes and imagine what happens when this coincides with an adversarial Bessent weaponizing access to liquidity with rates exploding higher globally. I told you Europe would need to commit economic seppuku as part of a decoupling. What you’re seeing now is an early preview. As a reminder roughly one-fifth of European GDP is driven by exports out of Europe. America as the consumer of last resort drives discretionary spend globally. Yes direct exports to the U.S. are small (5% of EU GDP) but it’s a global system and when consumption stops the effects spill over….as evidenced by the ongoing surge of Chinese exports into Europe post liberation day. Yes the current riots are underpinned by retarded immigration policies …..but they are also a function of economic malaise that so far has been fairly tame. Now what if that malaise turned into a tsunami.
