Culture belongs at the table🍽️ Being back in #Peru 🇵🇪 - appreciating it’s incredible cuisine & enjoying food freely while living w/#Crohns reminded me that food is about more than nutrition. It’s culture, connection& quality of life🥹 #HispanicHeritageMonth
Being in #Peru this year reminded me that sharing an experience doesn’t always mean sharing a connection. Even within the IBD community, we won’t connect with everyone & that’s okay 😏 Finding the people you truly relate to matters…🇵🇪

A very personal moment for me🇵🇪 Sharing my #IBD story from #MachuPicchu during #HispanicHeritageMonth was something I never could have imagined! Proud to bring my Peruvian roots into the IBD conversation & remind people that our culture, language & lived experiences matter 🥹 🇵🇪
Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month on top of Machu Picchu! We are so proud of board member and Foundation social media ambassador Rocio Castrillon and her entire Team Challenge team, who hiked up to 16,000 feet through the Ausangate mountains — braving rain, sleet, hail, snow, and strong winds — then descended 8,000 feet to Machu Picchu, all while living with a chronic illness. Rocio returned to her roots in Peru to raise awareness and support for the nearly 1 in 100 Americans living with IBD. 💙🧡
#HispanicHeritageMonth is also about community 🇵🇪 Finding someone who speaks your language & gets it can make all the difference with IBD.
El #MesDeLaHerenciaHispana también es comunidad. Encontrar a alguien que hable tu idioma y entienda la EII puede marcar la diferencia🤗
What a powerful panel of #IBD experts answering questions for #patients 👊🏼 Grateful for the speakers that @CedarsSinai brought together for the 2nd Annual IBD & Women’s Health conference! 💟
Great session from @KarenZaghiyanMD on #pouch & pouch dysfunction for #IBD patients who may experience complications with women experiencing more mechanical pouch dysfunction 😔
Genetics are truly guiding treatments & therapeutics in #IBD 👏🏼 It’s exciting to see this evolution over time 😊 @tharitunians
Although genetic studies investigating women with #IBD are lacking @CedarsSinai is committed to advancing research through their women’s program @tharitunians
Women living with #IBD have a number of safe birth control options as presented by @PujaKhannaMD & current research doesn’t show an increase in #IBD flares from birth control pills 👍🏼
Early research for #GLP1 is promising in #IBD & may lower inflammation but does NOT replace a patient’s #IBD treatment as presented by @AndresYarur
Emerging topic on #obesity & #metabolism in #IBD from @AndresYarur emphasizes how medications may work less well, patients may feel more symptomatic daily & surgery can be harder. Important for patients to keep in mind 🤔
So valuable to hear from @DrPhil_Gu about the role of #IUS in #IBD & how it is used extensively for patients at @CedarsSinai
Grateful for @ibdgijami keynote session on the impact of hormonal changes in #perimenopause & #menopause in #IBD Good news 🗞️ No direct link between menopause, hormone changes and higher risk of developing IBD 👏🏼
Excited to be back at the @CedarsSinai #Women & #IBD conference & hear the latest from @ibddocmaria & @PujaKhannaMD & the amazing lineup of speakers 💟
