🇬🇧 Gold and DXY | London open
Gold is trading near $4,177, down 0.16%, after Friday’s bounce stalled below $4,190. The 4H chart is still making lower highs from the $4,225 spike, so the recovery hasn’t confirmed a trend change.
DXY has reclaimed 102 and is around 102.05, after dipping to 101.77. That firming dollar is weighing on gold. A sustained move above 102.00 could keep pressure on XAU; a break below 101.77 would give gold more room to recover.
🥇Gold levels: The $4,171–$4,180 area is the pivot. Resistance sits at $4,190–$4,200, then $4,225. Support is near $4,150, followed by $4,110–$4,080.
A rejection from $4,190–$4,200, or a 4H close below $4,171, could bring $4,150 and then $4,110 into view—especially if DXY pushes toward 102.30. For a counter-trend long, gold needs to reclaim $4,190 while DXY breaks below 101.77; the next levels are $4,200 and $4,225.
Monday’s open can bring gaps and sharp moves. I’m watching the $4,180 pivot and waiting for the dollar to confirm before taking a position.

🇺🇸 U.S. close | Fri, Oct. 16
Stocks finished lower. The Dow fell 0.34% to 52,002.41, the S&P 500 dropped 1.1% to 7,659.44, and the Nasdaq lost 2.1% to 26,140.03. The Nasdaq’s four-week winning streak ended; it fell 4.5% for the week. The S&P was down 1.9%, while the Dow gained 0.7%.
DXY was near 101.82 and the 10-year yield around 5.07%, down 2–3 bps. Oil eased after Trump announced a waiver on Russia sanctions: WTI near $100.90 (-0.5%) and Brent around $108.20 (-1.5%). Middle East shipping risks remain in the background.
Hot CPI and PPI have kept inflation concerns alive. Markets now see October Fed hike odds in the low-to-mid 20% range, while a December hike is still priced in.
🌏 Asia open ⏭️ ~08:19 ICT, Mon. Oct. 19 — check live: Gold $4,175–$4,185, silver ~$57.30, BTC $82,000–$82,200, ETH ~$2,412.
Levels to watch :
🥇Gold: Range $4,160–$4,180; support $4,140 / $4,100, resistance $4,200 / $4,220. Neutral.
🥈Silver: Range $56.80–$57.50; support $55.50 / $54, resistance $58 / $59.50. Cautious.
🟠BTC: Range $81K–$82.5K; support $80K / $79.7K, resistance $84K / $84.3K. Range-bound.
Monday’s NAHB housing index is a low-impact release. Housing starts and building permits are due Tuesday; inventories and jobless claims follow later this week. The next FOMC decision is Oct. 28.
No major U.S. data today. I’m watching oil, yields and China-related news.

🟡 Kitco Gold Survey | Oct. 19–23
Gold is still struggling to clear $4,200, and the latest survey shows little conviction on direction.
Among Wall Street analysts, 50% are neutral, 33% bullish and 17% bearish. Main Street is slightly more bearish: of 139 votes, 45% expect lower prices, 43% are bullish and 12% are neutral.
Spot gold was around $4,165/oz on Oct. 18. It traded between $4,073.35 and $4,216.91 last week as hot CPI and PPI, a firmer dollar and rising yields weighed on prices. Gold recovered late in the week as yields eased and expectations for an October Fed hike fell, but it remains range-bound below $4,200.
The week ahead is relatively light on data, with housing figures, jobless claims, PMIs and Michigan sentiment to watch.

🟡 Gold held near flat, while silver slipped into the weekend.
Gold closed at $4,164.10 (-0.14%); silver finished at $56.87 (-0.76%). Crude surged—WTI above $100 and Brent near $109.86—while Treasury yields recovered modestly toward 5.12%. That offset a softer dollar and safe-haven demand.
Gold couldn’t hold its move toward $4,200 as the tech-led selloff deepened: the Nasdaq fell 2.1% Friday and 4.5% for the week. Markets put the odds of a Fed hold at the Oct. 27–28 meeting near 83% after Warsh’s comments, but sticky inflation and higher energy costs kept December hike concerns alive.
Levels to watch :
🥇Gold: Resistance $4,176 / $4,185–$4,201; support $4,148 / $4,132.
🥈Silver: Resistance $57.39 / $57.86; support $56.78 / $56.34.
Silver remains the weaker leg, more exposed to concerns about industrial demand and restrictive rates. Gold has held up better on safe-haven flows tied to Hormuz and Iran tensions.
Weekend liquidity can be thin, so I’m not chasing resistance.

🇬🇧 Gold and DXY | London open :
Gold is back near $4,188, up 0.32%, after rebounding from the $4,080–$4,100 area. Silver is at $57.27, up 3.16%.
The move came even after a hotter-than-expected PPI print. Yields fell about 9–10 bps to ~5.09% and DXY slipped to 101.80, giving metals some support. Safe-haven demand tied to AI-related credit concerns and Hormuz/Iran tensions may also be helping. For now, this looks like a relief rally; the $4,225 high from Oct. 2 remains overhead.
🥇Gold levels: The $4,169–$4,188 area is the near-term decision zone. Resistance sits at $4,190–$4,200, then $4,225. Support is around $4,150, followed by $4,110–$4,080.
💸DXY levels: 101.80 is the pivot, with supply at 102.00–102.30 and support near 101.50.
A hold above $4,169 and a close over $4,190, while DXY stays below 102, would put $4,200–$4,225 in view. A rejection at $4,190–$4,200 alongside a DXY move back above 102 could bring $4,169 and $4,150 back into play.
Friday liquidity can be thin, so I’m waiting for confirmation rather than chasing the middle of the range.

🇺🇸 U.S. close | Thu, Oct. 15 — market reaction to PPI
Stocks finished higher despite a much hotter-than-expected PPI reading. The Dow gained 1.08% to 52,177.69, the S&P 500 rose 0.33% to 7,744.06, and the Nasdaq added 0.08% to 26,713.03. The S&P and Nasdaq ended their three-day losing streaks as money rotated out of AI and tech into healthcare and defensive stocks.
September PPI jumped 1.3% m/m versus about 0.6% expected, with annual inflation at 6.3%. Yet bond demand pushed the 10-year yield down 9–10 bps to around 5.09%, while DXY fell 0.5% to 102.03. Markets pared October Fed hike odds to roughly 28–35%.
Oil was mixed: WTI settled near $97.97 (+3.03%), while Brent was around $105.92 (-0.1%). A large U.S. inventory draw and geopolitical risks supported crude.
🌏 Asia open with ~08:20 ICT, Oct. 16 — confirm live: Gold $4,156–$4,170, silver ~$57.20, BTC $82,200–$82,350, and ETH $2,430–$2,440.
Levels to watch :
🥇Gold: Range $4,150–$4,170; support $4,100–$4,070, resistance $4,200–$4,230. Constructive while above ~$4,100.
🥈Silver: Support near $56, resistance $57.50–$58. The rebound is still in progress.
🟡BTC: Support $80K–$81K, resistance $82.5K–$83K. Consolidating.
Despite the hot inflation data, softer yields and a weaker dollar helped metals hold up. Oil also found support from inventory and geopolitical concerns, while tech continued to rotate. Today’s U.S. calendar includes import/export prices at 08:30 ET, industrial production at 09:15 ET, monthly options expiration and Fed speakers, including Warsh.

🟡 Gold and silver rebound
Gold finished Thursday near $4,168.30 (+1.55%), while silver climbed to $57.27 (+3.16%), recovering some of Wednesday’s CPI-driven losses.
Treasury yields eased, with the 10-year down about 10 bps to 5.09%, and the dollar softened. Safe-haven demand also picked up amid AI-related credit concerns and continued Hormuz/Iran tensions, despite hot CPI and PPI readings.
Levels to watch:
🥇Gold: Resistance at $4,181, then $4,216–$4,267. Support at $4,161 / $4,128 / $4,107.
🥈Silver: Resistance at $57.40–$57.86, then $58.34. Support at $56.92 / $56.34.
With liquidity likely to thin into the weekend, I’m not chasing the rebound above resistance. Friday’s import prices, industrial production and any remarks from Fed Chair Warsh could still move the market. Keep positions modest and watch for gaps at Sunday’s open.

🇺🇸PPI and retail sales both came in hotter than expected, adding to the inflation concerns raised by yesterday’s CPI. PPI rose 1.3% m/m and 6.3% y/y; retail sales increased 0.8% m/m.
💰DXY is testing 102.25–102.27, near its 20-day EMA. Gold remains below $4,145–$4,150, while BTC is still under $81,000 with a weak RSI.
I’m staying cautious until price settles after the data.

🇬🇧 Gold and DXY | London open
Gold is at $4,139.60, down 0.14%. It has slipped below $4,150 and is testing $4,132 after touching $4,131. The 4H chart is still making lower highs after the rejection near $4,210, so downside pressure remains.
DXY has eased from 102.39 to 102.12, with a low at 101.88. That pullback has helped limit gold’s decline. A move back above 102.30 could add pressure to gold; a break below 101.88 may give it room to recover.
🥇Gold levels: Resistance at $4,147 / $4,166 / $4,180. Support at $4,132 / $4,110 / $4,080.
While gold remains below $4,147, a rejection in the $4,147–$4,166 zone—or a 4H close below $4,132—keeps $4,110 and $4,080 in view, especially if DXY firms back toward $102.30.
A counter-trend long needs gold to reclaim $4,147 while DXY breaks below 101.88. First upside levels: $4,166 and $4,180.
$4,132 is the level to watch. I’d wait for confirmation rather than buy the first bounce.

🇺🇸 U.S. close | Oct. 14
Stocks had their worst session since July. The Dow slipped 0.09% to 51,621.48, the S&P 500 fell 1.11% to 7,718.94—its fifth decline in six sessions—and the Nasdaq dropped 1.88% to 26,692.87.
Hot September CPI added to rate concerns. Headline inflation was +0.6% m/m and +3.7% y/y; core came in at +0.3% m/m and +2.6% y/y, both above expectations. A 9.1% jump in gasoline drove the headline, while shelter and core services remained sticky. Markets now put the odds of an Oct. 28 Fed hike near 50%, up from around 22%.
DXY traded near 102.5; the 10-year yield was around 5.19%. Oil stayed firm, with WTI near $95.10 and Brent around $106, amid Saudi/Houthi and Hormuz risks.
🌏 Asia open — around 08:00 ICT; check live: Gold $4,105–$4,140 (down about 1.3%); silver $55.60–$56.10 (down about 6%); BTC ~$81,700 (-1.7%); ETH ~$2,420 (-3%).
Levels to watch :
🥇Gold: Range $4,070–$4,170; support $4,070–$4,100, resistance $4,140–$4,170. Soft below $4,140.
🥈Silver: Range $55–$59; support near $55, resistance $57–$58. Still under pressure.
🟠BTC: Range $81.4K–$84K; support $81.4K, resistance $83.5K–$84K. Range-bound to soft.

🟡 Gold slides toward $4,100; silver drops nearly 6% after hot CPI
Gold settled at $4,104.50 (-1.34%)—still above $4,100—while silver fell to $55.51 (-5.99%). September CPI came in hotter than expected: headline inflation rose 0.6% m/m and 3.7% y/y; core was 0.3% m/m and 2.6% y/y. Yields moved toward 5.27%, the dollar firmed, and October Fed hike odds climbed to around 40%. The Nasdaq fell 1.9%, while oil remained elevated amid Hormuz and Houthi-related risks.
Levels to watch :
🥇Gold: Support $4,072–$4,066, then $4,004. Resistance $4,114, then $4,134–$4,142.
🥈Silver: Support $55.27–$55.00. Resistance $56.00, then $56.55–$57.64.
PPI, retail sales and jobless claims are up next. Softer data could ease yield pressure; another hot reading may keep metals capped. After a sharp sell-off, I’d wait for the data reaction and confirmation at these levels rather than chase.

🇺🇸US September CPI came in hotter than expected.
💎Headline YoY: 3.7% (exp 3.6%)
💎Core YoY: 2.6% (exp 2.5%)
💎Core MoM: 0.3% (exp 0.2%)
Not a big miss, but enough to keep the Fed cautious. Markets reacted accordingly.
BTC 4H: More resilient.
Bitcoin is red but still holding above the 82k area. Unlike gold, it has not broken structure on the 4H yet. Still sensitive to further DXY strength, but relative outperformance is noticeable so far.
