A familiar Downtown Houston space is starting to feel different! 😍👀🌳 Phase 1 of improvements at Tranquillity Park is complete, marking the first step in refreshing one of Downtown Houston’s most distinctive public spaces. Announced by @houmayor John Whitmire earlier this year, this first phase focused on creating a more welcoming experience while laying the groundwork for what comes next! 🙌 Improvements include: 👇 🪵 New composite decking over three existing fountain basins 💡 New tree lighting throughout the park and its perimeter 🧱 Repairs to pavers and select hardscape areas 👀 Removal of select walls to improve sightlines ✨ Power washing and general cleanup across the park This process has been intentionally collaborative, bringing together preservationists, historians, engineers, architects, and community partners to honor the park’s original vision while shaping its next chapter.
