My understanding is that most FB products are iterated to drive retention with 1-100M people, and then go for growth against the massive user base. Like Marketplace.
Muse was built and launched quickly, and will have to iterate publicly to drive retention.
Different method, but it can be successful! Zuckerberg back to building with a mission-driven focus is good.
Muse will be the top installed app for a while thanks to Meta’s distribution might..
But they are starting to have a retention issue: most people still don’t know what to do with a personal agent, so they lose interest after a while.
I bet Muse will get much more proactive rather than reactive like it is today:
“I can take care of this for you. Want me to?”
I think there are a LOT of money saving opportunities in finance
“Your credit card is charging 27% interest. You qualify for a much cheaper way to pay it off. Want me to move it?”
“You have $8,000 sitting in checking earning almost nothing. Want me to move the excess to a higher-yield account?”
“You’re paying off three debts. Putting your extra $300 toward this one first will save the most interest. Want me to change the payments?”
“Your car insurance just went up 22%. Want me to shop for a cheaper policy?”
“You’re paying for two subscriptions you haven’t used in months. Want me to cancel them?”
“Your employer will match another 2% of your 401(k) contributions. Want me to increase it?”
“Your credit card annual fee is coming up, but you barely used the benefits. Want me to downgrade it?”
Other non finance examples:
“Your kid’s soccer practice moved to 6:30. Want me to tell your spouse and update the calendar?”
“This group chat has been trying to pick a restaurant for three days. Friday at 7 works for everyone. Want me to book it?”
“Your package is delayed and will now arrive while you’re at work. Want me to change the delivery?”
“Your sister’s birthday is Saturday. Here are three gift ideas under $50.”
“You usually order groceries on Sunday. Want me to rebuild last week’s cart?”
“You told your friend you’d send them those photos. Want me to do it?”
“You’re running late for dinner. Want me to text the group your ETA?”
“One of the Marketplace couches you saved just dropped $100. Want me to message the seller?”
“Your flight is delayed. Want me to tell the person picking you up?”
“You’ve been trying to make plans with three friends. Saturday afternoon is the only time everyone is free. Want me to organize it?”
“Your dentist asked you to reschedule. I found three open appointments that work with your calendar. Pick one?”
“Your child’s school sent a permission slip due Friday. Want me to remind you tonight?”
“You said you need to return something to Target. The return window closes in four days. Want me to remind you when you’re near one?”
Basically moving from: You think of a task → you ask → AI helps.
To:
AI notices something → suggests an action → you approve.
Then you trust it and Muse handles routine things automatically and tells you afterward.
IMO people aren’t going to keep opening an agent because it can answer questions, unless they are subbing muse for ChatGPT; I don’t think it’s there yet…
They’ll keep opening it because it keeps saving them time, remembering things they forgot, and taking annoying little tasks off their plate.
When we decided to move out of SF to the East Bay, we found the houses were half the price, the preschool was half the price, the childcare was two-thirds the price, and the high-quality free public school assignment were in the neighborhood. It may not quite be the same today, but directionally it probably still is.
Median cost of preschool in San Francisco is $2500 per month, per the SF Chronicle’s analysis of tuition charged by every preschool in the city
A loved @Tesla feature: you can change your car on the screen - custom colors or into Santa’s sleigh or a Mars Rover. A couple years ago they allowed you to become the Tron bike. It’s fun!
My optimistic take is that some poor souls at BMW thought this Spiderman thing was a similar integration, and would be welcomed.
I read “ Mercury GM Nick U’Ren on the acquisition of Kelsey” and thought @mercury bought a startup named Kelsey
True for much of what ails us in life. The best, highest performing sports teams, companies, ecosystems do this.
“Maybe I’m looking at too rose colored glasses and being naive lol, but I think if everyone deadass just treated each other with respect and from a good faith standpoint there wouldn’t be this much toxicity”
My contribution to the players vs. analytics convo is the players for the Pistons that I’ve gotten to talk and ask questions have never seemed against analytics or let’s just say “numbers” in general.
I think what most players are probably against are people talking down to them or talking crazy to them and using numbers as a shield to do so.
Like, Hart mentioned his mans is on their analytics team. NY is heavy analytics. Hart is aware of analytics, man lol. I’ve asked Cade, Duren, Ausar, Sasser, Stew all questions centered around a “number” and none of them ever have had a problem—honestly, I think they open up more and genuinely enjoy answering actual X’s and O’s questions rather than narrative questions.
I think for most players (maybe I’m wrong but I don’t think so), they just don’t like being talked down to behind numbers. Also, the obvious human element: how is *random Twitter user* gonna tell me I’m not as good at basketball as I think I am? I’m in the f—ing NBA?
Maybe I’m looking at too rose colored glasses and being naive lol, but I think if everyone deadass just treated eachother with respect and from a good faith standpoint there wouldn’t be this much toxicity around this. Idk idk idk
Yea, the June oven is amazing.
Gave a talk yesterday and said "Fuck saving memories, delete that memory, agent. Make a PR to make my skill better so I can benefit from it and anyone else that uses this skill." Thanks @colinraney for pushing me to post about this idea
Jersey sponsorships usually aren’t about the patch. B2B perks incl tickets/suites/experiences are bundled. Often so pricey and loaded with other stuff, it doesn’t make sense ROI sense for a consumer company. And teams won’t unbundle, they only add more to the bundle.
Iren (bitcoin miner turned GPU compute provider) is reportedly paying $50M / yr to put their logo on the warriors jersey
Hard to believe the best use of that asset is reaching millions of fans who will never rent GPUs, jersey patches should be worth way more to consumer brands.
Agree. Has been true for the championship in all sports for some time. e.g. 2010 SF Giants NCLS was insane at the park. The next week, World Series was much more subdued. The two people sitting in front of me didn't stand once during the entire game. Same happens to Warriors games

AI can now read your customers' minds.
We raised a $20M Series A lead by 8VC & Lingotto to build this.

One more from chi-town:
Rafael and Jeff were amazing! I continue to be constantly amazed at how many of my tasks can get done in an efficient, thoughtful, manner. They also help spot things I would never know to do and are happy to teach and recommend varying solutions along the way! On top of it all, they collaborate with you, teach you and help you through special projects. So thankful!!
The work you see (fixing your leaking faucet) is an hour. Getting a trusted person to your home with the right parts and tools takes hours or days.
Seamless coordination is the actual product in home services. That's where @HoneyHomesHQ is innovating.
That's why @HoneyHomesHQ focuses on hiring top-10% tradesworkers, and making them available to homeowners on a fractional basis. It's a win-win. You get the best, the tradesworker gets a great job. It's Honey Homes' job to make sure it all works seamlessly.
More than one of our handymen have said to me "I've been here for three months and no one has yelled at me". That's not the definition of compassionate leadership, but it's an outcome. Building a culture of trust, care, and discipline at @HoneyHomesHQ enables us to deliver for our members.

Our first investor asked us if we really believed consumers would pay for a premium service for their homes. My answer was that every other solution that treats skilled labor like unskilled commodities has failed at any sort of scale. So if it's going to work, it has to start premium, vertically integrated to do the work, and learn from there.
Sometimes you have to do the actual work, and build the software from there.
