Incinerator toilets offer plumbing-free convenience but demand high energy. Dry-flush toilets seal waste in bags, costing $0.50-$2.00 per flush, creating more landfill waste and potential messes. #TechReview #Sustainability
From a tiny converted hunting camp with an outhouse to authoring the 'Compost-Powered Water Heater' book. Discover Gaelan's journey of composting innovation and its impact. #Composting #Sustainability #GreenLiving #Innovation
Mixing materials in a tumbler requires immense torque. The design process weighs coupling, machining, fastening, cost, and scalability to get it right. #Engineering #Design #Manufacturing

See the difference between a hand-bent prototype bar and a custom aluminum coupling versus the actual production parts. A glimpse into the prototyping process! #DIY #Prototyping #Engineering #Manufacturing #BuildInPublic
Kevin explains the general design of compost toilets: strategic slopes for urine diversion, ample space to prevent 'dangling' mishaps, and optimized depth for solids and liquids. Engineering for a cleaner future. #SustainableLiving #EcoFriendly #DIY #BuildInPublic
Gaelan and Kevin explore the energy expenditure of dehydrating versus reverse osmosis for water purification. While RO's upfront cost is higher, its energy demands are significantly less than traditional dehydrators.
