Whenever there is discourse about credit cards, insurance, 401Ks, etc on here, I am reminded that a sizable portion of the population doesn’t actually understand the world around them and think things just inexplicably happen to them
Endlessly funny how a genuinely autocratic entity got power in the US, and then inadvertently destroyed all state capacity before they could figure out how to use it to keep power forever.
ProPublica: Trump Appointees Wanted a Voting Machine Hacked
A few months into President Donald Trump’s second term, political appointees at the Department of Homeland Security made an unusual request of its agency focused on cybersecurity: Secretly acquire a voting machine and hack it.
The appointees wanted the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency to procure the machine, examine it and report back the findings so they could be given to the White House, according to two former administration officials with knowledge of the request.

Americans are fairly desensitized to violence in modern times because you had a stadium full of people just witness a horrific death in person and the game was only delayed by ~10 minutes.
A U.S. Army officer falls to the field at high speed during a fast rope demonstration gone wrong during the Navy vs UTSA pregame tonight.
The officer was attended to on the field and taken to the hospital on a stretcher. There has been no update on his condition but we pray that he was not seriously injured.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Air Force confirmed the service member, a USAF Airman, died from injuries after the rappelling demonstration. It was not a fast-rope or Army officer.

The most glaring issue with Vance from a political viability perspective is the fact that he is absolutely atrocious off the cuff.
Vance is confronted by the emotional husband of a soldier killed in Iran War and acts like he had no idea anyone ever died:
Q: It's a hard price to pay. There's a failure in the leadership. How will the leadership be held accountable?
Vance: If there were failures... This is the first time I've heard of this.
Extremely funny how every time this discourse comes up, the worst people you know are absolutely furious about it.
There’s an odd subset of people who completely refuse free ways to be more socialized. I firmly believe the war on bullying caused a whole generation to be stunted.
