If you need me I’ll be over here, knitting this squirrel tea cosy with my non-inflammable knitting pins
New neighbours just moved in across the hall from us and now our Yoda doormat has a rival 😂 #GeekWars
Love it when I find extra stuff in magazines! In this Oct 1932 issue of Weldon’s Ladies’ Journal, newspaper clippings of photos from a Lord’s test (Eng vs WIndies) and instructions for dealing with a squeaky car. Now wondering who the reader was, what else they were reading etc.
Saw this on a bin near us and thought of you, @QuinnvisibleMan. Would you like us to post it?
Triturated Beef and Vegetable Weaning Food, anyone? Babies love it’s flavour apparently, and even “your husband” can make it! @sartorialfoodie thought you might enjoy this, @LisaHaushofer
Check out this amazing page of period products, in a 1940s mail order catalogue. Includes washable towels, period pants, and burnable envelopes for travelling.
Oh wow, just found the working notes for a doll’s cardigan in a 1951 issue of Home Chat. They are impressively neat! Each row ticked off, with colour changes and stitch counts in brackets 👌
Happy Sunday! Help, please…can anyone think of any characters in inter/post-war fiction who knit and are young? The only one I can think of is Rebecca’s narrator, but there must be more! Any ideas??
Where can I find out more about image searching/computer vision? Especially interested in whether and how this is being used in print archives. Is anyone working with or developing an equivalent of OCR for images?
I’m starting work on an article!
What should I read about crowdsourcing in periodical/archive/digital humanities research?
Help, Twitter! If I was launching a project using online crowdsourcing to collect data from #knitting pattern leaflets, where would I need to publicise it?
