My remaining in the APC should not be mistaken for aligning myself with the government in power. I do see greater possibilities for constructive engagement from within, and remaining in the party preserves the opportunity for that engagement.
At the same time, I am yet to see a credible alternative that persuades me to take a different political path. But neither party membership nor access to government can become an end in itself.
For me, there is a clear condition for becoming truly part of any government: I must retain the freedom to remain truthful to my conscience and to subordinate every political allegiance to God first. If that space does not exist, I would rather simply remain where I am - in the APC, but not of the APC.
