Every time I hear John Smoltz on TV, it seems he has to talk down to his audience: “What people who haven’t played the game don’t understand is …”
Don’t insult our lifestyle or our athletic ability. Just tell us what your point is, if you have one.

Today was the first day in postseason history where there were at least 4 games and the road team won all of them

Just once I wish Jimmy Fallon would tell a musical guest, “That’s not quite how you do it.”
First game at Dodger Stadium, April 10, 1962
The scoreboard was among the last things to be installed. A little haphazard at game time:
"D gers" on the crazy-looking batting order. No "0 0 0" on the "R H E." On Umpires, this would maybe the only time a "P" would be shown.

🚨FOURTH OUT MISTAKE!!!🚨
NO WAY!!! @RedSox at @BlueJays and in the 7th Boston has first and third and one out. Ceddanne Rafaela hits a fly to center and both runners forget there was one out and just ran without tagging up. After the ball was caught, the Blue Jays threw the ball in and doubled off the runner at first, for an inning ending double play.
Since the runner from third scored BEFORE the third out, the run counts because this is not a force, but a timing play.
What Toronto SHOULD have done is after the out at first, they legally could have thrown to third and appealed that that runner left early. This would have been the elusive FOURTH OUT and this would have replaced the third out and nullified the run.
Once all the infielders crossed the foul line, the ability to appeal the play was lost, and once that happened, the run was officially counted.

It’s not like I know everything there is to know about the WNBA, but when I watch highlights, it reminds me more and more of 1960s women’s roller derby.

Almost without question, the next Lakers PA announcer will be a crazy, manic cheerleader like there is in virtually every other NBA arena.
If this isn’t the end of a leaguewide era, it’s darn close.

Kind of mind-boggling to think that the last time the Knicks won the NBA championship I was a junior in high school.
Man! And I’m OLD!
