One of Veryfi's employees went to the Netherlands and Belgium. Set themselves a €400 food budget. No expense app, no spreadsheet — just "I'll remember it in my head."
Came back €194 over budget.
The wild part? Their biggest expense category wasn't restaurants. It was cafés. Multiple times a day. Every day.
At the end of the trip they scanned all their receipts and actually looked at the data, and it told them something they didn't want to hear: they blow the most money at the start of a trip, not the end.
Anyway, lesson learned. If you're doing business travel in Europe and think you can wing the expense tracking — you probably can't.

2 years ago @semerda bought a pressure washer at @Lowes .. and assembled it in the driveway. Then he went to register it for the #warranty . Name, email, phone, mailing address, retailer from a dropdown, purchase date, model number, serial number...
He closed the tab. Never registered it. Still haven't.
And here's the thing that's been stuck in his head ever since — he was holding everything that form needed. The receipt in his hand had the date, the store, the product. His drivers license had his name and address, already verified.
It should've been 2 photos 📷 Not twelve fields!
That moment is kind of why he keeps posting this series — he's fascinated by how ordinary documents like #receipts, #IDs, #invoices, et al. quietly run our lives, and how much of that friction @Veryfi #AI can just... remove.
