Tariffs haven’t generated anywhere near $1.3 trillion. American companies pay the tariffs anyway. Tariffs are an import TAX. The cost of the increased taxes are usually passed onto the consumer.
TRUMP LIED.
Where are the DOGE checks? The tariff dividend checks?
Baier: $5000 for every adult citizen, that's about $1.3 trillion. The critics will say the president is bribing voters and he's bankrupting the country.
Vance: Tariffs have generated a lot of revenues. The president is saying, if you keep us in power, then you will share in some of the benefit of this incredible wealth that we are creating

The cost of sending $5000 to every adult US citizen is estimated at 1.3 trillion dollars. US tariff revenue was approximately 195 billion dollars in fiscal year 2025.

i noticed this clip cuts off at the exact moment she starts trying to backpedal her “monkey” comment. i looked up the rest and of course it gets worse bc she tries to clean up one racist comment with another racist comment.

Calling a Black man a “monkey” is racist. Full stop.
If Wajahat Ali and Rula Jebreal were on the far right, no one on the far left would have any trouble condemning them for dehumanizing a Black man in racist terms.
The silence is deafening.

RIP Gloria Steinem - you helped us all with your grace, wit, and intellect. In this age where too many cruel broligarchs persist, I love these quotes from you:
“Empathy is the most radical of human emotions.”
“We’ll never solve the feminization of power until we solve the masculinity of wealth.”

"Jolene's" Magnificent Plea: Dolly Parton’s Transcendent Night on the Letterman Stage
Dolly Parton’s live performance of "Jolene" on the *Late Show with David Letterman* on April 4, 1995, has gone down in history as one of the finest live acts ever staged in the Ed Sullivan Theater. At the age of 49, the legendary singer delivered not only a musical masterpiece but also a flawless embodiment of the song's protagonist—a wife pouring out her heart—all while exuding a truly magnificent presence.
Stepping onto the stage, Dolly Parton immediately commanded attention in a form-fitting, sequined white gown that accentuated her famous hourglass figure, complemented by her iconic, voluminous blonde hair.
Without relying on modern vocal processing, she showcased her raw, pristine, and incredibly sharp vocal prowess. Dolly’s voice soared—clear yet tinged with a palpable, choked-back emotion. Despite the song’s fast, driving tempo, she maintained perfect breath control and pitch, fully conveying the insecurity and desperate pleading directed at "Jolene."
The performance’s brilliance was further elevated by the superb accompaniment of the traditional band. A key emotional highlight was the pedal steel guitar ringing out during the musical transitions; that signature, melancholic, and sustained sound—a staple of country music—blended with Dolly’s vocals like a quiet sob, holding the audience spellbound.
As the song concluded, the Ed Sullivan Theater erupted in thunderous applause. Host David Letterman himself stepped onto the stage, visibly excited and full of praise for the sheer caliber of this living legend. Channeling the jealousy of her youth into her music, Dolly Parton transformed marital insecurity into an enduring legacy that shone brilliantly before millions of television viewers.

The Canadians fought and died with us in WWI, on D-Day, in WWII, in Vietnam, in Afghanistan.
When they came for Americans in Tehran, Canada hid us.
When California, Oregon, or Washington are on fire, they send firefighters.
And this is who Trump is attacking economically?

It’s absurd. No one in MAGA cares about Canada except Trump. This whole mess is literally bc of him & wd stop immediately if he left office
When is the last time any significant political voice in America complained about Canada? No one can even remember. It’s all and only Trump

Rest in peace, Dolly Parton (1946–2026) 💔
I don’t even know how to put this into words. We lost one of the true greats today, not just in country music, but in music, period. Dolly Parton was a songwriter, a singer, an actress, a businesswoman, a philanthropist, and one of the kindest hearts this industry has ever seen.
“Jolene.” “9 to 5.” “Coat of Many Colors.” “I Will Always Love You.” These aren’t just songs, they’re pieces of all our lives because we grew up listening to them. Dolly wrote music that crossed generations, crossed genres, crossed borders. And beyond the stage, through the Imagination Library, she put books into the hands of millions of kids and changed lives in ways most artists never even attempt.
There will never be another Dolly. The rhinestones may have stopped shining today, but her music, her humor, her heart, those infectious attributes of hers aren’t going anywhere. She will shine forever.
I think this incredible tribute by @Pink captures the greatness of Dolly’s life!
Rest easy, Dolly. Thank you for the songs, the laughs, the memories, and everything you gave the world. ❤️🕊️

Teachers can only write-off up to $350 worth of classroom supplies on their taxes…
… while CEOs can write off the entire cost of their private jets and yachts.
This is what it looks like when our politicians are owned by billionaires and corporations.
