A @NYTmag article entitled "How to Buy and Eat Seafood Responsibly" makes a glaring omission.

How I'd summarize what these places mean to me 🥲

ALT screenshotted text: The animal rights movement has two very different emotional registers: the grief and terror of looking squarely at factory farming, and the joy of discovering how much creativity, abundance, and pleasure can exist outside it. All-vegan restaurants represent perhaps the fullest embodiment of that second feeling — like “a little heaven,” as Krupa Panchal, co-owner of Bombay Food Junkies, a vegan Indian spot in suburban St. Louis, put it to me.

I just finished an advance copy of @casssunstein's "Animals Matter," about animal rights, and it's excellent. I particularly admire his effort to craft a practical bill of rights for animals. Germany has amended its constitution to protect animals, so who's next?

Have you ever noticed we live in a country where a 95-year-old man can walk into a mud pit in Chicago, call his band The Fuckers, and start reciting “Enter Sandman” like he’s giving a TED Talk from the afterlife?
William Shatner. Ninety-five. Riot Fest. Douglass Park. Thirty-five minutes. Spoken-word heavy metal. In the mud. With people cheering like this is normal.
It is not normal. It is magnificent.
He did “Crazy Train.” He did “Ace of Spades.” He did Metallica. Not sang them. Talked them. Like Captain Kirk got trapped in a guitar amp and decided to negotiate with Satan instead of the Klingons.
Behind him: actual musicians. Marcus Nand. Phil Soussan. Grown men who have paid rent with real notes while a nonagenarian stands there going, “What the F is heavy metal?” and somehow makes it a question worth answering.
Brian May is on the record. Tony Iommi is on the record. The album is called *What the F Is Heavy Metal?* which is the most honest title in music since someone first admitted most of it is just louder complaining.
The crowd ate it up. Of course they did. We will watch a man old enough to remember radio as furniture stand in wet dirt and dare death to tap him on the shoulder. Death probably took one look, said “I’m not dealing with this today,” and went to find someone easier.
You’re never too old to live out your dreams. That’s the line they always use. The real line is: most people quit the second it gets embarrassing. Shatner waited until embarrassing became the whole act, then sold tickets.
Follow @wickedsmaahht before the rest of the timeline figures it out.

The @washingtonpost examines how Trump’s beef policies affect ranchers, consumers and voters. Ranchers have livelihoods. Consumers have grocery bills. And politicians have electoral considerations. The only stakeholder whose problems are left out of the story are the cows, whose abuse and death make this industry possible.
@anniegowen @murraymatt @SpiegelPeter - In your future #washingtonpost coverage about the beef industry, please tell readers what happens to the cows (and the planet) so that they can make informed decisions about what - or who - they eat.
Is this a data center? Nope. Thousands of cows are confined in this industrial mega shed 💔
Our eyewitnesses found cows confined on concrete with apparent pressure sores while green fields lay just out of reach. Your milk shouldn’t cost a cow her freedom. Ditch dairy.

The streets are calling...
In this episode of Just So You Know, Jamie and Justina sit down with longtime activist and organizer Rachel Ejsmont to talk about the real impact of street activism, pressure campaigns, open rescues, and what it takes to fight for animals in public.
A travesty if they’re jailed 👑 Let the king have mercy on them?
My wife Rose, and her friends Rosa and Sarah, rescued lambs from the King of England. They are heading into court today to face trial and up the 7 years in prison for their action. What will be exposed in this case is a ruthless system whereby the most powerful institutions torture - decapitate, eviscerate, and even scald alive - the most powerless creatures. And if the jury is allowed to see this truth, I believe they will acquit.

The water usage required to produce cows milk is approx. double the amount required to produce almond milk.
Yes, almond milk is the most water-intensive plant milk you can choose but it comes no where close to cows milk.
The most water efficient option is soy milk, followed by oat 🥛

🚨 BREAKING: Animal Justice has filed to take Ontario’s dangerous ag gag law to the Supreme Court!
Much of the law was restored in June, undoing our legal victory & effectively silencing whistleblowers & journalists.
We won't stop fighting for animals & freedom of expression! 🐮🐷🐥

When you own Bacon Nation, and are on TV after winning the CNE Hall of Fame 2026.
When you said they’re just like dogs after being with us outside the slaughterhouse.
And you know pigs scream in gas chambers for your bacon 😭
Let me remind you.

The BBC can be incredibly disappointing and blatantly biased when it comes to animals & veganism. Ugh. 🐟💔
The @BBC reports that giant tuna have returned to the North Sea after disappearing 60 years ago due, in large part, to overfishing. @rburgessbbc - A wildlife comeback should be celebrated for the animals’ sake - not as another opportunity to catch them, which is what the BBC has done. cc: @biancabritton
