The old operating system moralizes suffering, moralizes weather, and regenerates priesthood.
It is now killing us at planetary scale.
Time to uninstall.
Let the dead bury God.

Damien Echols @damienechols spent nearly 18 years on death row for a crime he did not commit. His recent reflections on the death penalty are worth reading.
I think the deeper question is this:
Is there a fate worse than death?
When the system freezes someone in the identity of their worst act forever- life without parole, permanent records, lifelong exclusion- it starts to look a lot like something else…

I have absolutely no interest in magick, alchemy, esotericism, or any of the other things I’ve spent most of my life studying and practicing. I don’t care about rituals, initiations, secret teachings, spiritual hierarchies, or collecting mystical experiences. I spent decades immersed in these things, and I understand their value. But they were never meant to become permanent occupations or identities. They were tools intended to accomplish something. The problem is that people become so attached to the tools that they forget what they were trying to accomplish in the first place. They build an entire identity around being a magician, an alchemist, or an initiate, and then spend the rest of their lives defending and reinforcing that identity. The very thing that was supposed to free them from the ego becomes another way of keeping it alive.
The purpose of the Great Work is not to become a better magician or a more accomplished alchemist. It is to become free. Free even from the need to practice magick or alchemy. At some point, you have to stop preparing to live life and actually live. It. I want to practice my sword, drink my tea, spend time with my wife, and give my complete attention to whatever I’m doing. I have no desire to escape the world, transcend the material plane, or become something other than what I am. I spent years trying to reach something beyond ordinary life, only to discover that ordinary life was what I’d been looking for all along. If your spiritual practice never allows you to put it down, you haven’t found freedom. You’ve just built yourself another prison.

The real mechanism is much more mundane… yet far more useful.

A tremendous amount of energy is spent reacting to Trump.
Outrage. Investigations. Viral clips. Demands that somebody do something.
All of it urgent.
None of it changing anything.
What if the problem isn’t insufficient resistance?
What if resistance itself has become part of the machinery?

I’m about fed up with this non-dualism nonsense.
“There is no self.”
“Only awareness.”
“Desire is the source of suffering.”
“Surrender the ego.”
“Enlightenment arrives when nobody is left to want it.”
I’ve heard the pitch. Here’s why it keeps rubbing me the wrong way:

What does the rise of the Divine Feminine actually mean?
If toxic masculinity and patriarchy are distortions of masculine strength, does healing mean replacing the Divine Masculine with the Divine Feminine?
Or have we just changed whose knee is on the neck?

Most gods die when their temple burns and their people get marched into exile.

The god of Israel watched Jerusalem fall, the temple destroyed, and his kingdom erased… then somehow became the only God that mattered.

The dead do not just leave us stories.
They leave us instructions.
A shared inheritance becomes an argument over who gets to keep it.

The most important technology in human history took form the moment we stopped relying on memory alone and began storing knowledge outside the brain.
That single shift made history, law, debt, science, and empire possible. It also created new forms of power and dependence we still live inside.

Civilization didn’t begin with agriculture.
It began when we stopped walking away from each other.
Once people stayed put, relationships, obligations, and decisions became persistent. The landscape itself started carrying history.

We stay unfinished longer than any other primate- helpless longer, plastic longer, dependent on other minds longer. That costly delay may be the very advantage which made modern culture possible.
Civilization didn’t invent our traits. Our traits invented a civilization which further honed those traits.
