Alpha in biotech comes from looking where no one else is. At @VariantBio, we’ve built a proprietary engine to uncover human genetic evidence that the rest of the industry is missing. I had a great deep dive into the ethics and science of our approach on @biotechnation today.

Since 2021, we’ve invested approximately $700M across more than 30 companies, partnering at every stage—from seed and company creation to public market entry—to seek to drive innovation in this space.
Breakthroughs in biology are converging with advances in applied AI and computational tools, creating new opportunities to tackle complex diseases and improve patient outcomes. Catalyzing transformation at this scale requires uncommon collaboration across science, technology, healthcare, and policy engagement.
Our life sciences thesis focuses on three core areas:
1. Computationally-Enabled Drug Discovery: Treatments powered by computational approaches that address unmet medical needs and have the potential to transform patient care, including those being developed by @manas_co, Parabilis Medicines, and @tahoe_ai
2. Harnessing Nature’s Machinery: Companies leveraging and engineering biological systems to develop novel and effective therapies, including Alpha-9, ArriVent, and @MaxionTx
3. Transforming the Life Sciences Industry: Backing software, services, and tools that underpin scientific research, development, and commercialization across the life sciences, including @aidocmed, @elektrofi, and @ParadigmHLTH
