Let me address this. We wrote the grant to do this project in 2018. It was funded in 2020. We deliberately delayed this to devote time and effort to addressing Covid and Long Covid.
My team and I remain committed to working on LC, but we cannot default on our other commitments.

Revisiting the long-term health effects of Covid vs flu
3 key points
1. Covid is worse than flu
2. Covid is more multisystemic; flu is more respiratory
3. Both covid and flu cause more health loss in the long-term than what is evident around the time of acute infection

From a young age, Dr. Ziyad Al-Aly wanted to work with data, but his father's battle with cancer inspired him to change paths. Now, as a clinical epidemiologist at the Veterans Affairs St. Louis Health Care System, he gets to do both. bizjournals.com/stlouis/news…

True leadership by Austrian physicians
“COVID-19 is not a cold. It is not influenza. It is a systemic, vascular-damaging disease that only spreads via the respiratory route, via aerosols. COVID is neither over, nor is it a harmless infection without consequences.”

"We CAN’T take responsibility for the constant, unmitigated infection of the population w/ a vascular-damaging, neurotropic virus like SARS-CoV-2, in which a previous infection provides no long-term protection vs future infection.”
