Unfortunately, for many, the art isn't what actually matters. It's the ego boost they get to associate with being an artist. And hiding behind the "I just love the process" argument is an egoist's way of othering processes and workflows they are unwilling to wrap their head around. So they choose to see those who use AI as lazy, instead of accepting that they themselves are shuttering themselves from undertaking larger projects with these same tools. Every single person now has the option to be more ambitious, even if they only have access to an open weight model. But when confronted with this reality that they might not be as creative as their ego's standards indicate, many choose to wish it all burnt down.
