Actor Tom Skerritt, known for movies like Alien and Top Gun, has passed away at the age of 92.
He worked on several video games, including voice of Clay Allison in the 2005 game Guns and his character Captain Arthur Dallas in the 2014 Alien: Isolation.

Mass Effect was my first assignment at Xbox.
It was a first-party game and an Xbox exclusive.
I'd arrived near the end of a very long development cycle. My job was to make sure it landed well with retailers, critics, and fans. And it really did.
The relationship was over almost as soon as it began. EA acquired BioWare just weeks before Mass Effect shipped, and management of the title was handed over in 2008.
I got to visit BioWare's headquarters in Edmonton and see the shelves crammed with every kind of role-playing game imaginable. It was an old-school creative culture producing something the world had never seen, both technically and as a work of storytelling.
What Drew Karpyshyn achieved as a writer, and the team achieved as world-builders, has never been quite equaled.
I'm glad I got to be a small part of it, however briefly.

This is sad news on multiple fronts - for those of us who worked there, for our friends and colleagues at BioWare who are impacted, and for fans who were looking forward to the next Mass Effect adventure.
I started my career at BioWare and will forever be grateful to the founders, Greg and Ray, for inviting me to join in BioWare's legendary journey. Its legacy will live on through those who were part of it and continue to create games through a passion for unforgettable stories, worlds and characters.

What if EA decides to sell the Mass Effect franchise to another publisher? Here are a few companies I think could bring the series back to life.
1. Sony (PlayStation): Imagine Mass Effect being developed by Naughty Dog, Guerrilla Games, or Insomniac Games. Any of these studios could potentially do something incredible with the franchise.
2. CD Projekt Red: The studio behind The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 would be a perfect fit for Mass Effect, especially when it comes to storytelling, RPG mechanics, and player choices.
3. Microsoft (Xbox): Let’s not forget that the original Mass Effect launched on Xbox 360 in 2007. Microsoft could bring the franchise back to its Xbox roots, possibly handing development to Bethesda or another Xbox-owned studio.
4. Other Publishers: Ubisoft, Square Enix, Amazon Games, or Warner Bros. Games could also be potential buyers.
Personally, I believe Mass Effect still has enormous potential. The franchise isn’t dead; it’s just been sitting cold for too long. Maybe selling the IP would give it the fresh start it deserves.
