Transforming how the world connects, with @Starlink 🌐
VEON is the first operator group globally to launch Starlink Mobile across three markets: Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Bangladesh. Through Starlink’s direct-to-device technology, 11 million unique VEON customers have stayed connected where cell signal can’t reach – using satellite-ready apps, sharing their location, and sending messages via apps and SMS on their existing LTE-compatible phones.
The impact goes well beyond staying in touch. We work with leading U.S. technology companies, like Starlink, to extend the American tech ecosystem, digital access, and resilient infrastructure to our high-growth markets – and ultimately, change customers’ lives in every corner of our footprint.

We’ve reached 11 million VEON customers using @Starlink direct-to-device technology 🛰️
Since 2025, we’ve been introducing Starlink’s satellite technology across our markets — from Kyiv to the steppes of Kazakhstan, and most recently to the Bay of Bengal.
But for us, expansion across our markets isn’t just a tick box – as Starlink’s largest global partner, we’re helping communities stay connected in areas where expanding terrestrial infrastructure can be challenging, and creating new opportunities for people to connect, communicate and participate in the digital economy.
We believe connectivity is a basic human need, not a privilege. From Ukraine to Central and South Asia, the direct-to-device service has the potential to reach 40+ million people across our footprint – and by combining our networks, customer relationships and market expertise with Starlink’s technology, we’re creating a future where geography is less of a barrier to staying connected 🤝

A new era of connectivity for South Asia – as we bring Starlink’s satellite connectivity to Bangladesh 🇧🇩🛰️
Banglalink has launched @Starlink's Satellite-to-Mobile service, bringing connectivity to 37.5 million customers, and making Bangladesh the first country in South Asia to offer this technology.
In the emerging markets we serve, connectivity is not a luxury. It is a lifeline — during natural disasters, emergencies, and when traditional networks go dark. With a standard 4G handset and a Banglalink SIM, customers can now access essential services and location tools beyond the reach of any conventional mobile network.
Market by market, we’re expanding access to connectivity and helping to ensure that distance doesn’t mean disconnection for millions of customers.

Across our markets, we look for opportunities to augment our customers’ capabilities and create new possibilities.
Banglalink’s youth-focused digital lifestyle platform, RYZE, brings this commitment to life. Already serving more than 150,000 customers, RYZE AI Hub offers access to leading AI models, including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and DeepSeek.
The latest app update also introduces auto-routing, local model fallback, prompt compression and prompt caching, making RYZE AI Hub more reliable and efficient. Banglalink is the first operator in Bangladesh to implement these technologies. Customers now get 5x more AI tokens at the same price and can pay through their digital wallets for what they use.
This is what augmented intelligence looks like in practice: technology that helps people get more from the tools they already use, turning access into opportunity.

In many emerging markets, mobile money has become people’s entry point into the formal financial system, often before a bank branch ever reaches them. In 2025 alone, mobile money services processed over $2 trillion in transactions across 2.3 billion registered accounts, a scale that can’t be matched through branch banking alone.
That’s the backdrop VEON’s Chief Payments & Digital Assets Officer, @AhmetKayhan, brought to this week’s panel at the Banking Innovation and Technology Summit 2026, on “Mobile Money in Emerging Markets: How Telcos Became the Bank for the Next Billion.”
The growth in digital financial services is increasingly coming from adjacent services like credit, savings and insurance, with the number of mobile money providers offering insurance rising by a third in 2025 alone.
The conversation reflected that shift: how digital operators and banks are each bringing different strengths to the same goal, operators with reach, data and daily engagement, banks with deep financial infrastructure and trust built over decades, and where the two are increasingly built to work together rather than compete.
Thanks to Mehdi Letaief (Arthur D. Little) for moderating, and to fellow panelist Roberto Mancone (duPay) for the discussion.
