New Zealand First will break up the duopoly by law, back Kiwi suppliers and force real competition.

The High Court has just made a ruling to overturn the government’s decision to ban the use of puberty blocker chemicals in children - the judge declared the regulations unlawful and invalid and set them aside.
We will demand that this decision be immediately appealed by the Minister of Health.
Our country needs to come to our senses and base these critical health decisions on evidence. Not on process.
Puberty blockers are banned indefinitely in the UK and the Nordic countries for anyone under 18. This ruling makes New Zealand sit in stark contrast to that.
NZFirst was the only party who campaigned on the banning of puberty blockers in kids and the only party who fought hard to ensure the government brought this ban in.
We will continue that fight to ensure commonsense and normality wins.

Labour’s announcement to ban social media for under 16 year olds is a naive solution to a genuine issue.
Throwing out simplistic sound bites denies the reality that banning social media in its entirety means either banning VPNs or using digital ID for everyone - otherwise it’s a fools errand and meaningless.
The failure in Australia to implement such laws highlights this and Labour knows it.
Everyone with children wants them protected from the harms of social media, but the threat of everyone needing to lose privacy and freedoms to enable that to happen is what Labour needs to explain to kiwis.
Ultimately we need to ask ourselves as a country how far we want the government to overreach into the responsibilities of parents, but most importantly the rights of parents.
If we start down this innocent pathway it will become very slippery and won’t stop.
Election period promises that sound good should not hide the serious nature of the solution, nor of the seriousness of the problem we all agree should be addressed.
PS
Between 2020-2023 what did Labour ever do about the problem they are now promising to solve.

Kiwis are sick to death of the Climate fear-mongering. Pragmatism can solve the issues we are facing for a fraction of the cost.

NZFirst will mandate that cash is accepted for payments and transactions. We have the legislation written and ready to be tabled immediately after the election.
It is written on cash that it is legal tender.
We will ensure it is written into law that every company, bank, organisation, or government office must accept cash for payment and transactions.
No one has been given a mandate to not accept cash - in particular banks and local or central government.
This incident is now adding to a growing list of organisations who think they can decide on behalf of people what legal tender is.
This is evidence of the slow burn into digital overreach of our society - that no one has asked for.

JUST ANNOUNCED:
NZFirst will immediately reverse this week’s decision by the Minister of Consumer Affairs before the end of this year.
Today we have visited Vulcan Aluminium in Hamilton to discuss the recent announcement by the Minister of Consumer Affairs to not impose a safeguard measure on imported aluminium extrusions flooding the market.
Thousands of New Zealand jobs are at stake.
The decision to not impose safeguards leaves NZ companies using aluminium extrusions with no trade remedy against many inferior products flooding the market.
The supply chain to local fabricators and wider industry is being threatened - as is our sovereign capability.
New Zealand has nine aluminium extrusion pressers serving the country and all of them are now at risk.
Australia, UK, US, EU, and Canada have all taken action and so should we.
We are a nationalist party who puts New Zealand and New Zealanders first.

Only three weeks to go until election day…remember to Party Vote NZFirst and let’s put New Zealanders First!

🚩Bombshell video: James Christmas’ 2023 Otago Uni interview when he ran for Nats. TĀMAKI DO NOT ELECTORATE VOTE FOR ACT’s LEADER IN WAITING.
James Christmas has been exposed as ground zero for co-governance, assiduously working alongside Chris Finlayson, a notorious co-governance superspreader.
In this interview James admits that he and Finlayson not only instituted co-governance but also coined the term “co-governance”.
Chillingly, he uses the same narrative as Willie Jackson has recently: “We regret using co-governance, it’s scary to people, we should have used a boring term like co-management of the environment.”
The Act candidate, who is no. 7 on the list, happily admits that he and Finlayson decided on the use of co-governance as a device to manage natural resources, and adds that he and Finlayson designed basically all the co-governance mechanisms in NZ.
James explains what co-governance means to him (and National): “It means partnership, used to manage our natural resources” i.e. foreshore/beaches, rivers, mountains, water.
Tellingly, James says he and National view the Treaty through a “tino rangatiratanga” lens.
Tino rangatiratanga means “Māori self-determination”, a term used by the radicals to incite apartheid.
This is classic Chris Finlayson hogwash, a man who along with James caused literally billions of dollars of Treaty claims (the clause that has caused iwi to block any economic development like utilisation of our own resources and eliciting millions in payoffs for iwi, including to the foreshore). Thankfully Winston Peters has managed to wind back this term by amending Finlayson and James’ 2011 Marine and Coastal Areas legislation.
Then he explains that all the co-governance can occur not only through settlements but in local govt, through iwi representation on committees and in the RMA. Who designed these clauses that have riddled our legislation? The co-governance ground zero was Finlayson’s office.
Act is running a candidate who is directly implicated for establishing the VERY issues that have made traditional National voters distrust the party. He now plans to do the same with Act. A Trojan horse, a finger puppet of Chris Finlayson chosen to finish the job and to finish Act.
Xmas is wanting to secure Attorney-General & Settlements Minister should the centre-right return. It will be a continuation of the treason that Finlayson under National unleashed upon us.
There is a reason that Finlayson and labours Phill Goff are cheerleaders for Xmas, and why they want him to win the seat of Tamaki. This is called an installation.
Keep James under control. DO NOT ALLOW him to take Tāmaki; instead electorate vote National, party vote NZF or Act and let’s tuck Tāmaki into the centre-right overhang.

JUST ANNOUNCED:
NZ First to increase funding and support to NZ Coastguard
New Zealand First will increase government funding of NZ Coastguard, ensuring this vital frontline service has the resources it needs to continue protecting New Zealanders on the water.
Coastguard’s annual budget (NZ$30–34m) is roughly 40% funded by the New Zealand Government and 60% by public support.
Under New Zealand First, Crown funding will increase to 70% of Coastguard's operating costs - an increase of $12 million a year.
This investment will provide greater funding certainty and ensure Coastguard can meet growing demand while maintaining the high standards of service New Zealanders rely on.
Coastguard is New Zealand's primary maritime search and rescue organisation. It has more than 2,000 volunteers operating from 62 units nationwide, Coastguard responds to emergencies across our coastlines, harbours, rivers and lakes, bringing thousands of New Zealanders safely home every year.
In the 2024/25 year alone, Coastguard responded to 2,785 incidents, assisted 6,792 people and saved 61 lives.
The additional funding will support critical maintenance and capability investment, including upgrades to New Zealand's VHF maritime communications network, vessel procurement and replacement, and the purchase of essential rescue equipment.
It will also strengthen Coastguard's volunteer workforce through improved training, capability development, and practical support measures such as subsidising volunteer travel costs.
In addition, New Zealand First will also improve coordination between Coastguard New Zealand, New Zealand Police, New Zealand Search and Rescue, Fire and Emergency New Zealand, Health New Zealand and the New Zealand Defence Force. Better cooperation between agencies will improve capital procurement, strengthen interoperability, reduce duplication, and ensure emergency services can respond more effectively when lives are at risk.
Coastguard volunteers give their time freely to keep New Zealanders safe.
New Zealand First believes the Government must ensure this essential national service has the funding, equipment, and support it needs to continue saving lives of New Zealanders.
