This month, State Farm Correctional Center held an agency correctional education graduation, celebrating the achievements of 70 participants. Among them, seven graduated from Southside Community College with the highest honors. Congratulations, grads!

A probationer at Brunswick Community Corrections Alternative Program (CCAP) completed his Certified ServSafe Instructor and Registered ServSafe Examination Proctor certifications, the first time an incarcerated individual has earned that advanced credential at Brunswick.

Service Office Assistant Ester Encarnarcion of District 39, Harrisonburg Probation & Parole loves being a mom and team player. To Ester, public safety is vaulting over the language barrier to assist Spanish speakers with their needs when they come into the office.

District 13, Lynchburg Probation & Parole (P&P) recently participated in multiple Special Olympics events in their local community. We thank District 13 for supporting the incredible Special Olympics athletes in their community.

On October 8, 2026, Buckingham Correctional Center hosted Harvey Grant, who played 11 seasons in the NBA. We thank Mr. Grant for taking the time to interview with and meet the incarcerated individuals and staff at Buckingham.

Logan Hayes, Office Services Assistant at District 33, Warsaw Probation & Parole is the first friendly face you see when you visit District 33. Her cheery disposition and helpful support to her team is due in part to the fact that she loves her workforce who are like family!

Officer James Moses at Cold Springs Correctional Unit #10 has served on the frontlines of public safety in Virginia for 25 years. After that amount of time, his colleagues have become a family to him, and as both a workforce and as humans the team works well together.

Deerfield Correctional Center attended the 13th Annual VADOC Sex Offender Services Conference. Casework Counselors Belinda Bullock and Logan Delbridge were recognized for keeping our communities safe with their facilitation of the Sex Offender Awareness Program.

Senior Probation Officer Leslie Calder of District 27, Chesterfield Probation & Parole exemplifies the mission and vision of the Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC). She is in fact the 2026 Central Region Employee of the Year! Helping people is how she makes a difference.
